• Mode of Application: Online applications are accepted via Goa University website: www.unigoa.ac.in.
• Eligibility Criteria for MCA Programme:
  • Option 1: Bachelor’s degree in BCA/Computer Science/Engineering or equivalent with a minimum of 50% marks. (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per State Government Rules).
  • Option 2: Graduation in a Non-Computer Science discipline with Mathematics at 10+2 or Graduation level, with at least 50% marks. (5% relaxation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD candidates as per State Government Rules). Provisional admission granted, subject to completion of Bridge Courses.
• Bridge Course for Non-Computer Science Graduates (Semester III Admission): Successful completion of Bridge Course(s) required before admission to Semester III. Minimum 40% marks in Theory and Laboratory components. Evaluation by Goa Business School. Refer to Section B for details.

A. Aptitude Entrance Test for MCA Admission:

The Aptitude Entrance Test follows the outlined procedure:

1. The test content is based on the syllabus available on the University website (Aptitude Entrance Test Syllabus), covering:
   • Part 1: Analytical Ability and Logical Reasoning
   • Part 2: Mathematics
   • Part 3: Computer Science
2. The test comprises 50 multiple-choice questions, with each correct answer carrying 2 marks. A negative marking of 0.5 is applied for each incorrect response. Unanswered questions will be scored 0 marks.
3. The total duration of the Test is set at 90 minutes.
4. To qualify for MCA admission, candidates need to achieve a minimum of 30% marks (rounded up to the next integer) in the Aptitude Entrance Test.

The tie-breaking in creating the Merit List will be as follows: i. Section III scores shall be the first level of tie-breaker, followed by Section II. ii. In case the tie still exists, the University shall decide the order of merit.

B. Bridge Course for Non-Computer Science Candidates:

Non-Computer Science candidates aspiring for the Two-Year MCA program must complete the “Fundamentals in Computer Science” Bridge course through self-study, utilizing content identified from existing MOOCs (Massive Open Online Courses) resources. Bridge Course Evaluation: The evaluation of the Bridge course consists of two parts: Part A and Part B. Goa Business School administers the evaluation process. The assessment methodology is as follows (effective from Academic Year 2022-23):

   • Assessment: Evaluation of theoretical understanding.

  • Mathematics is to be one of the subjects in their HSSCE (10+2) or at higher levels.  Candidates will have to provide the needed documentary proofs fulfilling their eligibility criteria; preferably at the time of admission, failing which, their admission shall be cancelled.
• Minimum Marks:
  • Any Indian national is open to apply for this course, but are to satisfy various eligibility criteria. The student should graduate with at least 55% aggregate marks at the first-degree exam for the general category and 50% for candidates belonging to the reserved category.
• Foreign student applicants are to follow a different protocol including a letter from the education ministry department.
• Admissions to this course are restricted on a merit basis, evaluated through a series of entrance tests in the subject of Mathematics, English, Computer Awareness, Analytical and Logical Reasoning.
• With 60 seats available, students will be allotted seats as per performance in the entrance test, while the reservations of seats as per Govt. rules are also kept in mind.

For the academic year 2023-22, a single round of the Aptitude Entrance Test shall be conducted.

• The admissions of candidates failing to pay the admission fee on the prescribed day are cancelled and candidates from the waiting list take in their place as per merit.
• The 1^st provisional list of candidates will be put up on June 2020 with  June being the last day for the payment of fees. The second provisional list will be displayed on  June, with  June being the last date for the payment of fees.
• The final list of candidates, successfully completed the admission process will be displayed on of June. June is the last day for the payment of fees for those students admitted in the final round.
