Earlier this year, the coaching industry came under surveillance after witnessing a dozen of students committing suicide under pressure to perform at Kota in Rajasthan. Further, Kota is also the biggest coaching city in India. Also, Coaching classes have been inculpated of preparing students for the entrance exam without making sure their understanding of concepts is clear or not.

The IITs offer free JEE coaching classes project will attract a large number of response from IIT aspirants. Around 1.2 million of students appear for the JEE Main every year. Further, JEE Mains also an eligibility test for JEE ADVANCED grants admission into prestigious Institute.

Further, Only 10 percent i.e 150,000  applicants clear JEE main and appear for JEE Advanced for admission into 23 IITs. And, around 10 thousand students will get admission every year at the B-Tech Undergraduate level. However, that is only 1 percent of the total number of aspirants giving JEE entrance test. Hence, the free coaching initiative by IITs sounds promising.
