Different types of degree offered by it, includes Bachelor(B.Tech/BE), Master(M.Tech/MS) and Dual degree programs. M.Tech and MS admissions are done on the premise of Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE). Notwithstanding B.Tech, M.Tech and MS programs, It also provides other graduate degrees, for example, M.Sc in Maths, Chemistry, and Physics, also Ph.D., MBA, and so on.

Admission to these vocational courses of IITs is done through Joint Admission Test for Masters (JAM), Common Admission Test (CAT), and Common Entrance Examination for Design (CEED).

IIT Bombay and Guwahati offers undergraduate architectural programs too. Joint Seat Allocation Authority (JoSAA ) led the joint entrance exam process for a total of 23 Institutes. JoSAA is created by CBSE for conducting all the future exams related to JEE MAIN.

  • IIT Kharagpur

It is an institution for public engineering established by the govt. of India in 1951. Kharagpur is the 1st of all IITs in India, to be established and also recognised as an Institute of National Importance by the govt. of India. The students and alumni of IIT Kharagpur are informally referred to as KGPians. Among all IITs, The Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur has 2,100 acres which are the largest with the maximum number of departments. It also has the highest student enrollment than any other similar institutes.

  • IIT Bombay

The Indian Institute of Technology Bombay is also known as IIT Bombay or IITB. It is an autonomous engineering and research institute situated in Powai(Mumbai). In 2014, IIT Bombay was positioned as India’s top college in the QS World University Rankings. It is the 2nd oldest institute (second to IIT Kharagpur) of the IIT hierarchy.

  • IIT Kanpur

The Kanpur Indian Institute of Technology also abbreviated as IITK and IIT Kanpur is an open autonomous engineering and research college situated in Kanpur (Uttar Pradesh), India. Under the IIT Act, IIT Kanpur has been proclaimed to be the Institute of National Importance by the Govt. of India.

The act of Parliament in 1959, played a major role in the establishment of IIT Kanpur. The college started functioning in December 1959 in a room in the building of Harcourt Butler Technological Institute (HBTI) at Agriculture Gardens in Kanpur. In 1963, the organisation moved to its present area, on the Grand Trunk Road close to the town of Kalyanpur in Kanpur locale.

  • IIT Madras

IIT Madras is an open engineering and research institute situated in Chennai, Tamil Nadu(India) and is one of India’s most prestigious colleges. It is perceived as an Institute of National Importance by the Government of India. Established in 1959 with monetary and technical help from the previous administration of West Germany, it was the third IIT that was founded by the Govt. of India through an Act of Parliament, to give research and education facilities in engineering and technological advancement.

  • IIT Delhi

The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi also known as IIT Delhi or IITD. It is an open engineering and research college situated in Delhi (India). Under Institutes of Technology Act, Delhi IIT has been declared by the govt of India as an institute of national importance. The Indian Institute of Technology Delhi is 1 of the 2 public foundations(educational) in India, which have been recorded in the ranking of top 200 universities in the world for the 2015 year by Quacquarelli Symonds'(QS). 

  • IIT Guwahati

Indian Institute of Technology Guwahati also known as IIT Guwahati OR IITG is an open institution for public interest founded by the Govt. of India, situated in Guwahati, Assam, India. It is the 6th IIT founded in India by the government.

IIT Guwahati was founded in 1994 by “Act of parliament” and its vocational courses initiated in 1995. The choice procedure was the same as that of all IITs, i.e., through the JEE. In 1998, the primary batch of applicants was acknowledged into the MIT programs through the GATE entrance test.

  • IIT Roorkee

Indian Institute of Technology Roorkee also known as IIT Roorkee or IIT, In the past, the University of Roorkee and the Thomason College of Civil Engineering (TCCE), is a state-funded college situated in Roorkee(Uttarakhand), India. College status was given to IIT Roorkee in 1949 and was later changed over to an Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) in 2001, hence turning into the seventh IIT to be declared by the govt.   • IIT Bhubaneswar

  • IIT Gandhinagar

The Indian Institute of Technology Gandhinagar also known as the IIT Gandhinagar is one of the eight new IITs declared by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD) in 2008. The Institute started working in impermanent grounds at Vishwakarma Government Engineering College (VGEC), Chandkheda, directed by Indian Institute of Technology, Bombay. On 24 March 2011 and 30 April 2012, the Act was passed in the Lok Sabha and by the Rajya Sabha respectively.

  • IIT Jodhpur

The Indian Institute of Technology Jodhpur sometimes abbreviated IIT Jodhpur and IITJ is a state-funded college situated in Jodhpur in the states of Rajasthan (India). It is 1 of the 8 new Indian Institutes of Technology founded by the Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Govt. of India under The IT (Amendment) Act, 2011. It was included in IITs list after it was passed in Lok Sabha and then in Rajya Sabha respectively.

  • IIT Indore

Indore IIT or you can say IITI is an Indian Institute of technology, situated in Madhya Pradesh at Indore. It is an organisation of national significance set up by the Government of India in 2009. It is 1 of the 8 new Indian Institutes of Technology (IIT) set up by the HRD ministry, Govt. of India under The Act of Institutes of Technology (Amendment), 2011 which announced eight new IITs and in addition the changes of Institute of Technology, BHU(Varanasi) to IIT. The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24/04/2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30/04/2012.

  • Mandi

Indian Institute of Technology Mandi knew as IIT Mandi is an independent top engineering and technology institute situated in Mandi, Himachal Pradesh, India. It is 1 of the 8 new Indian Institutes of Technology set up by the Ministry of HRD, under The Institutes of Technology (Amendment) Act, 2011 of Govt of India, which proclaims these eight IITs and additionally the changes of Institute of Technology, Banaras Hindu University to IIT. The Act was passed in the Lok Sabha on 24/04/2011 and by the Rajya Sabha on 30/04/2012.

  • IIT BHU VARANASI

IIT in BHU, Varanasi was regularly known as Indian Institute of technology and IITBHU is an open public establishment situated in Varanasi (Uttar Pradesh) in India. Established in 1919 known at that time as the Banaras Engineering College, it turned into the Institute of Technology, BHU in 1968. It was assigned an Indian Institute of Technology in 2012.   • IIT Palakkad

  • IIT Tirupati

Indian Institute of Technology Tirupati also knows as the Tirupati IIT is a self-governing leading research and engineering college situated in Tirupati, Andhra Pradesh, India. Its academic session commenced on August 5, 2015, at Krishna Teja Educational Institutions on a temporary basis in Chadalawada Nagar on the edges of the sanctuary city. For the scholastic year 2015-2016, it will offer B.Tech courses in 4 branches, with 30 seats in every branch.   • IIT Dhanbad

The Indian Institute of Technology also known as ISM or IIT Dhanbad has 18 divisions covering Engineering, Humanities, Management programs and Applied Sciences and Social Sciences. the Union Cabinet headed by Prime Minister Modi endorsed that a bill is presented in Parliament for changing over ISM Dhanbad into an Indian Institute of Technology On 25 May 2016. The previously mentioned Bill was passed by the Lok Sabha on 26 July 2016. the Bill was passed by the Rajya Sabha On 2 August 2016. On 10 August, the Bill was in the end attested by the President of India and issued in the Gazette of India.

  • IIT Bhilai (Temporary classes at Raipur)

The Indian Institute of Technology Bhilai (IIT Bhilai) is a state-funded college situated in Bhilai, Chhattisgarh, India. It is one of the six new IITs set up by the MHRD, Govt. of India, situated in Chhattisgarh, India. Until the infrastructure and campus are permanently ready, the organisation will function initially at a temporary facility at Government Engineering College in Raipur. Block-B of GEC building with 4 stories has been completely remodelled and outfitted to begin IIT Bhilai. 457 acres land of an area around Kutelabata has been allotted by the state government for the new IIT Campus.

  • IIT Goa

Goa Indian Institute of Technology commonly known as IIT Goa is a self-governing, ivy leagues Indian institute situated in Goa. It’s an engineering and research facility. The new Indian Institute of Technology at Goa would begin taking classes from July 2016 at Goa Engineering College (GEC) Campus situated at Farmagudi, Goa on a temporary basis.   • IIT Jammu

IIT Jammu also was known as IITJam or Indian Institute of Technology Jammu is an open public college situated in Jammu, J&K, India.The Institute was founded in 2016 when a Memorandum of Understanding also known as MoU, between Department of Higher Education, Govt of J&K and Department of Higher Education, MHRD, Govt of India, was signed, setting the ball moving to set up a campus for IIT at Jagti village, Nagrota in Jammu.

  • IIT Dharwad

Indian Institute of Technology Dharwad (IIT Dharwad) is premier engineering college in Dharwad.The new IIT would start functioning from July 2016 in a temporary campus at WALMI in Belur village on the outskirts of Dharwad. For the academic session 2016-2017, it will offer B.Tech courses in three core streams i.e Electrical, Computer Science and Mechanical respectively.

Admission to IITs: JEE Advanced 2020

The Joint Entrance Examination (advanced) is the only gateway of admission to above mention IITs. The JEE Advanced exam is conducted by JAB and IIT Board. This year advanced exam is organised by IIT Kanpur.
