- Tamil Nadu NEET UG Round 1 Joining Date Extended: The Directorate of Medical Education and Research has extended the joining time for candidates selected in round 1 of Tamil Nadu NEET UG counselling 2023 for MBBS and BDS courses. The new joining deadline is August 14, 5 PM.
- Candidate Representation: The decision to extend the joining time was prompted by numerous representations from candidates, leading to the extension of the Round 1 joining period for the academic year 2023-2024 session.
- Fee Payment Instructions: Officials reiterated the importance of adhering to fee payment instructions outlined in the prospectus. Payment options include debit card, credit card, net banking, and UPI through nationalized banks’ payment portals.
- Proof of Fee Payment: The deduction of fees from a bank account is not considered proof of payment. Candidates must provide accurate account details during registration for proper fee refund procedures.

Major Changes This Year
No major change has been officially announced yet for NEET UG 2027 — no revised syllabus, exam pattern, eligibility criteria, marking scheme, or application process has been notified by NTA as of 03 Sep 2026. NEET UG 2026 was conducted in pen-and-paper (OMR) mode with 180 questions and a 720-mark pattern. Any changes for 2027 are purely speculative at this stage. Students should continue preparing on the existing syllabus and pattern until NTA releases the official Information Bulletin for NEET UG 2027.

In case of two candidates having equal scores the following tie-breaking criteria will be used by DME to resolve ties and prepare the Tamil Nadu MBBS/BDS merit list:

Tamilnadu NEET 2023 Rank List Cutoff
The official authorities will release the cutoff for the admission process. The students who want to take admission to the medical colleges of Tamil Nadu will have to ensure that they have the minimum cutoff marks or more than the cutoff marks to ensure a position in the merit list.
