Calcutta University provides admission in various undergraduates, postgraduates, and Ph.D. courses into its affiliated colleges. Calcutta University Application Form 2023

The University of Calcutta will release the online registration form for admission into various courses such as B.Sc., BA LLB, B.Tech, M.Tech, M.Com, MA/M.Sc, M.Ed, and B.Ed. Candidates have to fill in details like personal details, academic details and have to upload the scanned photograph and signature. To completely submit the application form, after filling in all the details candidates have to pay the application fee as per the course through online mode. 

How To Fill Calcutta University 2023 Application Form?

  • Step 1: Visit the Calcutta University official website.
  • Step 2: Click on the "Admission 2023" tab and register by providing the email ID, name, date of birth, and password of at least 8-16 characters.
  • Step 3: Login again with the password and email id provided at the time of registration to access the application form.
  • Step 4: After that, fill all the following required information:

    • Academic Information
    • Employment Information (if required)
    • Payment Information

Calcutta University Result 2023

The University of Calcutta will release entracne exam results along with the merit list for the various courses on the official website caluniv.ac.in. The merit list will be released in pdf format. University will release the merit list of all the courses of only qualified candidates. Such candidates will have to report at the counseling centre for the document verification process. A merit list carries information such as the qualified candidates' rank, as seats will be allotted on the basis of their ranks and choice of preferences. In any two candidates are supposed to get the same rank then such candidates will get rank on the basis of tie-breaking criteria.

  • Step 2: Click on the result and open the merit list.

University of Calcutta Admission Process

Candidates will be selected and seats will be allotted on the basis of the following details for all the courses:

  • B.Ed  – Candidates will be selected on the basis of his/her rank in the merit list and the choices fill the at the time or registration.
  • MA/M.Com/M.Sc. – 60% of seats will be allotted on the basis of the qualification degree marks. Whereas rest of 40% of seats will be allotted to the Non- Candidates and the rest of the CU candidates on the basis of his/her rank in the entrance exam. Candidates need to provide choices at the time of registration.
  • B.Sc. (FN & H.D) – On the basis of the qualifying examination, a merit list will be provided by the University of Calcutta. Selected candidates have to appear in the counseling process at the date and time, the venue provided in the call letter along with the documents required by the authority and the written application of choices of colleges and courses.
  •  B.Tech – On the basis of the score and rank in the WBJEE exam, candidates will be selected. For admission, candidates have to fill the choices of college and courses in the application form in the order preferences.
  • M.Tech – 60% seats will be allotted to the B.Tech/MCA graduates of Calcutta University and rest of the 40% seats will be filled on the basis of the entrance exam. Candidates must need to appear in the interview along with the documents for verification. On the basis of candidate's performance in exam and interview, University will release the list of qualified candidates who will be provided admission in the desired college.

  4. GATE/GPAT scorecard (based on the data provided by the candidates)

  6. Physically disabled certificates issued by the Government of West Bengal
  7. Employees have to bring with them “No Objection Certificate / Sponsorship Certificate” (as per prescribed format)

Calcutta University 2023 B.Tech Eligibility Criteria

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 with at least 60% in each of Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics to be admitted to B.Tech (Regular) courses.

Calcutta University 2023 UG Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for Calcutta University 2023 UG mentioned in the below points.

  • Candidates must have passed 10+2 to be admitted to BA (General)/ B.Sc (General)/ BA + B.Li.Sc/ B.Sc + B.Li.Sc/ B.Sc + B.Li.Sc.
  • Candidates must have completed 10+2 with English as a necessary subject in order to be admitted to B.Com.
  • Candidates for admission to B.Sc (Hons.) in Food & Nutrition must have completed 10+2 with a minimum of 50% in Chemistry.
  • Candidates must have a 50 percent aggregate in Sociology/Psychology/Education/Home Management/Physics & Chemistry/Chemistry & Biology to be admitted to B.Sc (Hons.) in Human Development.
  • Candidates must have a 50 percent aggregate in 10+2 to be admitted to BA (H).
  • Candidates for admission to BA.LLB. must have a 10+2 grade point average of 45 percent or higher.

Calcutta University 2023 PG Eligibility Criteria

The eligibility criteria for Calcutta University 2023 PG mentioned in the below points.

  • Applicants must hold a Graduate Degree in a relevant discipline to be admitted to (MA/M.Sc) / MA / M.Sc / M.Sc (Ag.).
  • Candidates must have a B.Sc (H) in Chemistry with a minimum of 55 percent to be admitted to M.Sc in
  • Chemistry / Environmental Science.
  • Applicants must have a B.Sc. with Honors (Major) in all Life Sciences, Chemistry, Physics, B.Agr, B.Tech (Biotechnology), and MBBS to be admitted to the M.Sc. in Biotechnology programme.
  • Applicants for admission to the M.Sc. in Genetics programme must have a minimum of 50% in their B.Sc. (Hons.) and a minimum of 60% in their average in Biology, Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics or its equivalent.
  • Applicants must have at least 55 percent honours in a relevant subject and 60 percent in 10+2 to be admitted to M.Sc in Atmospheric Science / Biophysics & Molecular Biology.
  • Applicants must have a minimum of 40% in their qualifying degree to be admitted to MA (Education).
  • Applicants must have a BA (Hons.) degree or a Pre-MA grade of 45 percent to be admitted to MA (French).
  • Applicants for M.Com admission must have a B.Com. or a graduation from IGNOU, NSOU, or other distance education programmes from West Bengal universities.
  • Candidates must have completed a B.A. L.L.B (Hons.) / B.A. L.L.B. / L.L.B (Hons.) / L.L.B (Hons.) / L.L.B (Hons.) / L.L.B (Hons.) / L.L.B (Hons.) / L.L.B (Hons.) /
  • Applicants for admission to M.Li.Sc must have a B.Ed / B.Li.Sc / BA-B.Ed/ B.Li.Sc/ BA-B.Ed/ B.Sc-B.Ed or equivalent degree from a recognised university with a minimum of 55 percent in aggregate. OR D.El. Ed/ D.Ed with Honors in BA/ B.Sc/ B.Com with an aggregate of 55 percent. OR a Special B.Ed. with an overall grade of 55 percent. OR Regular MA / M.Sc / M.Com. OR Honors MA / M.Sc / M.Com.
  • Applicants must hold a graduate degree to be considered for admission to the Integrated MLIS programme.
  • Applicants for admission to the M.Ed programme must have a B.Ed with a minimum of 50% in the undergraduate degree / B.Sc-B.Ed / BA-B.Ed / B.El.Ed with a minimum of 55 percent in the aggregate. As of June 30 of the entrance year, you must be 55 years old (50 years for SC/ST/PWD). Candidates with a D.Ed/ D.El.Ed and a 55 percent UG Hons. degree are eligible.

Calcutta University 2023 Selection Procedure

B.Tech
  • Applicants must have taken the West Bengal Board of Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) to be admitted to B.Tech (Regular) programmes. The ultimate decision will be made based on the results of the WBJEE exam, which will be followed by counselling.
  • The JELET score is used to determine admission to B.Tech (Lateral Entry).
  • CU and non-CU applicants must take the University Level Entrance Test to be admitted to B.Tech (Lateral Entry) Computer Science & Engineering.
UG Courses
  • Admission to BA (General), B.Sc. (General), BA (Hons.), B.Sc. (Hons.), and B.Com is based on merit in the qualifying examination.
  • The university administers an Entrance Test for admission to the BA.LLB programme.
PG Courses
  • Admission to the M.Sc programme at CU will be based on the results of an Entrance Test.
  • Admission to CU's MA / (MA/M.Sc) / M.Com programmes will be based on academic performance in qualifying exams.
  • Admission to CU's MA / M.Sc in Human Rights will be based on the results of a written test.
    Acceptance into M.
  • Admission to LL.M. / M.Sc (Ag.) is based on merit obtained in a university-conducted Entrance Test.
  • Admission to the Integrated M.Li.Sc programme is based on academic merit, with an Admission Test following.
