Himachal Pradesh National Law University Shimla, commonly known as HPNLU Shimla, was established under section 3 of the Himachal Pradesh National University Act. It was the second NLU after NLU Delhi to have its own entrance test (HPNET) for admission into its undergraduate and postgraduate programs. However, from 2019 onwards the admission in NLU Shimla n is exclusively based on the merit in the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).
