MNLUM Admission 2023 is on the basis of candidate merit in the National level CLAT exam. Admission to the Ph.D. programme is on the basis of an entrance test conducted by the university. Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai, established in March 2014 is one of India's leading National Law Universities under the Maharashtra National Law University Act. It is approved by the University Grants Commission (UGC) and affiliated with the Bar Council of India. The university offers BA.LL.B.(Hons) five years integrated program and one-year LL.M. programs, Ph.D. in Law, and planning to add more specializations from the new academic year. Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai Admission 2023

  • Candidates who are willing to apply for the UG courses must appear in the CLAT exam. 
  • BA.LL.B. Integrated course – Candidates have to pass a 10+2 or equivalent exam from the recognized board.
  • LL.M. Course – Candidates have to pass 10+2+3 or LL.B., or B.A. LL.B., or BBA. LL.B. from the recognized University
  • Ph.D. in Law – Candidates have to pass in Masters in Law from the recognized University.

The Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai provides admission to a 5 year integrated BA LLB program to eligible students. The minimum eligibility of this course is 10+2 or equivalent examination with 45% marks or its equivalent grade and 40% marks or equivalent in case of candidates belonging to SC / ST categories. Common Law Admission Test or CLAT 2023 is a National Level Entrance Exam conducted by Consortium of National Law University. This exam is conducted for admission into 22 NLU’s in India. Apart from admissions to NLUs, CLAT scores are also acceptable for admission in many different private as well as self-financed law colleges in India.

How to apply for LL.M. in Investment and Securities Law?

  • New users need to visit NISM official website for registration.
  • Upon successful registration, you will receive User ID and Password on the registered mobile number and Email ID.
  • After registration, you can Log - in and fill in the application form and pay the application fee online.
  • Application fee of INR 1,000 including the cost of an online All India Admission Test.

Industry-sponsored candidates / Foreign Nationals / NRI are selected based on a separate all India admission test / Interview

Maharashtra National Law University PhD. Admissions 2023

The Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai offers a PhD program with a minimum of 3 years' duration. The minimum eligibility of these courses is a Master’s degree in Law with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 - point scale. The admission shall be made through a PhD Admission Test (PAT) conducted by the University. Interested students must note the following important information of the program:

Eligibility Criteria

  • Master’s degree in Law with at least 55% marks or equivalent grade ‘B’ in the UGC 7 - point scale.
  • A relaxation of 5% in eligibility criteria will be granted to candidates from SC / ST / OBC (Non - creamy layer) / Differently - Abled persons.
  • Candidates appearing in the final year of the qualifying examination are also eligible to apply
  • Candidates who have cleared the M.Phil. Course work with at least 55% marks in aggregate or its equivalent grade 'B' in the UGC 7-point scale.

Selection Criteria

  • The admission shall be made through Ph.D. Admission Test (PAT) conducted by the University.
  • Admission will be subject to the availability of vacancy and faculty in the area of research chosen by the candidate.
  • Enrolment for the Ph.D. Degree shall ordinarily be full - time or part-time.
    • The candidate shall put in a minimum of two years residence of which at least 18 months shall be in the university and three years shall be the maximum period in which a full-time candidate should complete the work and submit it for evaluation.
    • A part-time candidate shall put in a minimum of four years, including coursework, of part-time study at the University including time spent for research at any other place with the permission of the Supervisor.

MNLUM Application Process 2023

Candidates applying for UG and PG programs need to pay an application fee of Rs 4,000 for General category candidates and SC/ ST category candidates, the fee is Rs 3,500. Candidates need to register for CLAT. Follow the below-mentioned steps for the CLAT registration:

  • Fill the application form by entering the required details
  • Submit the application form along with the required documents
  • Pay the application fee online via debit/ credit cards or net banking

Admissions to the undergraduate program: Five years integrated B.A., LL.B. (Hons.) and post-graduate program: One year LL.M., at Maharashtra National Law University Mumbai is held through Common Law Admission Test (CLAT) on a merit basis.

How to apply for CLAT?

  • Applications have to be submitted ONLINE only from website i.e. consortiumofnlus.ac.in
  • Register on the website by using personal mobile number and email Id.
  • Candidates must fill the necessary personal and academic details.
  • Uploading of required documents
    • Front-facing passport size recent photograph with a plain background.
    • Signature of the candidate.
    • Category certificate if you are applying under SC / ST / OBC.
    • Relevant certificate issued by a competent authority if you are applying if the candidate is P.W.D.
    • Relevant certificate issued by a competent authority if you are coming under BPL category
  • Application fees are INR 4000 and for SC / ST / BPL category candidates is INR 3500.
  • Previous year question papers can be purchased at INR 500 not included in application fees.
  • Submit and download the form for future references

For the Ph.D. program:

Candidates applying for the Ph.D. program need to follow the below-mentioned steps for the application process:

  • Fill the application form by entering the required details
  • Submit the application form along with required documents
  • Pay the application fee online via debit/ credit cards or net banking
  • Candidates fulfilling all eligibility conditions and making application complete with all documentation shall be eligible for admission under this category.
    • The applicants will be interviewed by a Selection Panel appointed by the University.
    • Offer of admission under this category shall be in accordance with the merit list prepared by the Admission Committee.

Applications for Foreign Nationals/ NRI

  • All applicants are required to pay the Application fee of INR 5000 (or USD 100) in case the remittance is made from abroad, by using the payment gateway details of which are available on the University website.
  • Applications complete in all respects, together with self-attested copies card of necessary documents must reach the University on or before the given date.
  • Candidates fulfilling all eligibility conditions and making application complete with all documentation shall be eligible for admission under this category.
    • The applicants will be interviewed by a Selection Panel appointed by the University.
    • The offer of admission under this category shall be under the merit list prepared by the Admission Committee.

MNLU Mumbai Scholarships 2023

The University offers some concessions & scholarships to the reserved category students. Details of the concession offered by the University are as follows:

  • The University offers 25% of concession in the tuition fee for the students domiciled in Maharashtra

Details of the scholarships offered by the University are:

  • Reserved category students of Maharashtra State can avail the scholarship offered by the Department of Social Justice & Assistance, Government of Maharashtra.
  • Students domiciled in other states can avail the scholarship under central/ state government rules & policies
