Rajiv Gandhi National University of Law (RGNUL) is a university of Legal Education located in Patiala, Punjab. It was established in the year 2006 by the Bar Council of India. The university offers UG and PG courses in the field of law. RGNUL also offers Ph.D. programs in the field of law. RGNUL  offers a five-year integrated B.A.LLB course for the undergraduate students and postgraduate program for one year as LLM program. The total number of seats are 80 for B.A.LLB and 40 seats for LLM.
The National Law University Patiala, also known as RGNUL, conducts its admissions for the academic year 2023-24 on the basis of the Common Law Admission Test (CLAT).

RGNUL  B.A. LL.B Admission 2023

RGNUL offers a five-year integrated B.A.LL.B course for the UG Students. The selection criteria is based on CLAT scores. The eligibility criteria is that candidates must have passed 10+2  examinations from a recognized board of education or equivalent with minimum 45% aggregate marks ( 40% for SC/ST). Candidates must have passed the 10 +2 examination from a recognized board with minimum 45% marks (40% for SC/ST candidates). The age of the candidates must not be more than 20 years (22 years in case of SCT/ST)

RGNUL LL.M. Admission 2023

RGNUL offers a postgraduate program for one year in the form of Master of Laws (LL.M) course. The LL.M admission will be done through the CLAT exams. The eligibility criteria for the LL.M course is that the candidates must have passed Bachelor Degree in the field of Law from a recognized University with minimum 55% marks ( 50% in the case of SC/ST). RGNUL Ph.D. Courses Admission

RGNUL offers Ph.D. courses in 4 different specializations. The admission for this course is done through an entrance exam conducted by RGNUL. The application form is available online which can be downloaded from the official website of the university. RGNUL Application Procedure

The application process for UG,PG and Ph.D. can be found below:
For UG/PG: For Admission UG and Pg courses candidates  will have to apply for the CLAT examination. To apply for the admission they have to visit the official website. The application fee for applying in UG and Pg courses through CLAT exams are Rs. 4000/- (Rs. 3500 in case of SC/ST candidates).
For Ph.D. : To apply for Ph.D. courses is that the candidates must have to apply for the entrance exam conducted by the University. The application forms are available on the university website. Candidates have to apply by downloading the forms and filling it correctly. The application form must be submitted along with application fee of Rs. 1000/-(Rs.700/- for SC/ST candidates) by a demand draft.

Documents Required

Following are the documents required to fill the form and at the time of admission:
  • CLAT Score Card
  • Entrance Exam Result Card for Ph.D. candidates
  • Marksheet of Previous Degree
  • Transfer Certificate
  • Conduct Certificate
  • Caste certificate ( if any)
  • Passport size photos (Recent and colour)
  • Additional Certificates in case of NRI
  • AIDS Test Clearance Certificate
  • Passport if required
Note: Candidates have to be present with all the original documents during the time of admission and should submit the two photocopies of the same.

RGNUL Admission Counselling Procedure

The selected will be informed and they have to appear with the following documents at the time of counselling:
  •  CLAT Admit Card (if applicable).
  • 10th Pass Certificate and Marksheet.
  • 12th Pass Certificate and Detail Marksheet.
  • B.A.LL.B Marksheet and Pass Certificate
  • B.A.LL.B Degree (if applicable) 
  • Migration Certificate from School/Board/University last attended.
  • Character Certificate from Educational Institution last attended.
  • Category Certificate issued by competent authority (if applicable).
  • Gap year-declaration to the effect that a student has not taken admission during the period in any Institution/University.
  • Copy of Aadhaar Card (UID).
  • Four Photographs (Passport size).
  • Soft copy of Passport Size Photograph (jpg) in a Pendrive.
  • One set of Attested Copies of the documents mentioned from I to X (Self Attested).

RGNUL Placements

The University has an internship and placement committee (IPC) which coordinates with the companies for the placement drives. The IPC committee takes care of all the campus placement and internships. The data is available for the year 2014 that a total of 33 students out of which law firms and corporate/LPOs have hired five students each. The average salary package offered to students was Rs. 4-6 LPA.

Rajiv Gandhi National University Of Law Campus

The Rajiv Gandhi National University Of Law has shifted to its new campus from May 2013from its interim location Mohindra Kothi, Patiala. The campus has developed academic and administrative blocks, Hostels, Faculty residences, Residence of Non-Teaching Staff, Facility area , University Guest House. The campus is spreaded over 50 acres of land.

Hostel Details

There are 8 hostels in RGNUL Campus (4 for boys and 4 for girls). Three blocks for boys and girls are equipped with separate mess/ dining facilities. Total  area covered  by these hostels are 1,99,000 Sq feet. All the hostels along with the attached messes are fully-air conditioned. All the hostels are equipped with an aqua guard with a water cooler to ensure 24 hours pure drinkable water supply. Proper hygiene  and sanitation facilities are maintained by 24 hours housekeeper facilities. Every block has common rooms.
