The University provides 9 specializations in the Shastri Course also known as BA Program. It also offers only one specialization under the Shiksha Shastri Course (B.Ed)- Sanskrit. The duration for BA is for 3 years, B.Ed is for 2 years and certificate courses are for 6 months of duration. The minimum eligibility required for BA programme is to have done 10+2 from a recognized board while admission for B.Ed is on the eligibility to have done graduation in any discipline from a recognised university. SSSU offers 5 specializations in MA (Acharya ) programme. The University also offers PGDCA and PG Diploma programmes. The eligibility required for admission to PG programmes is to have done Bachelor's degree in relevant discipline from a recognized university. The duration for the PG diploma is for 1 year while MA is for 2 years. The final selection will be on the basis of merit in the qualifying examination. The University offers 6 specializations under the Diploma courses namely - Yoga, Temple management, Vastu shastra etc. Each course has a duration of 1 year. The counselling for all courses will commence as soon as the merit list of all the courses will be released. The university will conduct centralized counselling for all the courses. Candidates have to attend the counselling as per the prescribed schedule. In counselling candidates will be allotted the seats on the basis of their counselling and merit list. The seats will be offered only after the verification of documents and submission of counselling fees. Seat allotment will be done on the basis of the merit list released by the University. The candidates have to select the appropriate centre for counselling and must compulsorily be present at the day of respective counselling.
Shree Somnath Sanskrit University is a State University established by the Government of Gujarat and is one of the pioneering Sanskrit universities in India and works for the development of traditional courses in India. The University also provides various facilities to the students such as good infrastructure, library facility, hostel facility, etc. The faculty members are also very supportive and highly experienced in their fields. Many benefits are also given to the women candidates and a provision of learning from home is also offered to them. In addition to various specializations provided by the university, courses like English, computer applications, Gujarati, Hindi and Sociology are also offered to the candidates for their overall development. The University currently has 35 colleges affiliated with it. Overall it is a great university for candidates interested in studying fine arts and music.
