About Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, Katra
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi University, also known as SMVD University or SMVDU, was established in 1999 under an Act of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislature. It is a fully residential University situated near the shrine of Mata Vaishno Devi, near Katra, Jammu, and Kashmir. It is approved by UGC under Section 2(F) & Section 12(B) of the UGC Act of 1956. SMVDU has over 20 collaborations and houses one college of Nursing (SMVD College of Nursing), four faculties, consisting of 15 Schools. It offers Undergraduate, Postgraduate, Integrated, and Ph.D. programs in the field of Engineering, Science, Management, Philosophy, and other subjects of contemporary importance, with all technical courses recognized by AICTE, CIC, and COA. Admissions to the University are granted on both entrance and merit-basis followed by SMVDU Direct Counselling respective to the course.
