IIT or Indian Institue of Technology was established in the year 2008 in Gandhinagar, Gujarat, India. It is one of the eight IITs announced by the MHRD in 2008. IIT Gandhinagar PhD Admission 2020 Courses

To be eligible to apply for IIT Gandhinagar PhD admission candidates should have at least 55% marks or 5.5 CPI marks in M.A./M.Sc./B.Tech./M.Tech. or equivalent degree in appropriate branches. Check the discipline wise minimum eligibility criteria below in the table:

OR related branches of Engineering from a recognised board/college.
Chemistry
  • At least 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) CPI/CGPA in MSc (Organic Chemistry/ General Chemistry/ Physical Chemistry/ Inorganic Chemistry / Analytical Chemistry/ Biochemistry/ Bioinformatics/ Computational Biology / Applied Chemistry) or equivalent degree and related programs.
  • Also, applicants must have qualified NET-JRF /GATE examination, not before 2018. 
Civil EngineeringSeeking candidates must have a score of minimum 60% marks for all open categories (55% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) in BE/BTech/ME/MTech or equivalent degree in Civil Engineering or closely related field. 
Cognitive ScienceAspirants must have 60% marks and there will be relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/PD or 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) in BTech / MTech/MSc or equivalent OR 55% (50% for SC/ST/PD) or 5.5 (5.0 for SC/ST/PD)
CPI/CGPA on the scale of 10 in MA equivalent 
Computer Science and EngineeringShould have passed any of this program BE/BTech/MTech/ME in CS/EC/EE with minimum 65% marks (60% for SC/ST/PD) or equivalent CGPA OR MSc in Mathematics / Physics / Bioinformatics or related areas with 1st class or 65% marks (60% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.5 (6.0 for SC/ST/PD) CPI/CGPA on the scale of 10 and a strong interest in computer science and engineering.
Humanities and Social SciencesMinimum 55% (50% for SC/ST) in MA or equivalent OR should have scored minimum 60% (55% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.0 for open category candidates (5.5 for SC/ST) CPI/CGPA on the scale of 10 in BTech/MTech/MSc or equivalent. 
Earth Sciences
  • MSc (Geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Environmental Sciences, Remote Sensing,
    Geography or related subjects) with not less than 60% marks for open category candidates (55% for SC/ST/PD) or equivalent grade on 10 scales.
  • Must be CSIR-NET or GATE qualified OR M.Tech./M.Phil. (Geology, Earth Sciences, Geophysics, Environmental Sciences, Remote Sensing/GIS/Geomatics, Hydrology or related subjects) with 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD) / CPI/CGPA of 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) out of 10. 
Electrical EngineeringFirst Class or 65% marks (60% for SC/ST/PD) in BE/BTech/ME/MTech or equivalent degree in the broad area of Electrical and/or Electronics engineering, OR BE/BTech/ME/MTech or Equivalent degree in other branches of Engineering OR MSc in disciplines consistent with the research areas of the discipline. 
Mechanical Engineering

A candidate who has scored 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) CPI/CGPA on the scale of 10 in BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MS or equivalent degree in Mechanical Engineering are eligible to apply.

OR

BE/BTech/ME/MTech/MS degree or equivalent in any of these Chemical Engineering/Industrial Engineering and/or Design/ Electrical and/or Electronics Engineering/ Production Engineering Aerospace and/or Aeronautical Engineering/ Civil and/or Structural Engineering/ Instrumentation and Control / Metallurgical and/or Materials Engineering/ Engineering Physics/Applied Mechanics/ Ocean Engineering and/or Naval Architecture/ Engineering

MathematicsApplicants M.A./M.Sc. in Mathematics with at least First Class or minimum 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST/PD) CPI/CGPA OR BE/BTech with at least 60% (55% for SC/ST/PD) or 6.0 (5.5 for SC/ST) CPI/CGPA.
Physics
  • Should have M.Sc (in Physics, Applied Physics, Mathematics, Statistics, Comp. Science) OR M.Tech (in related areas of Physics) OR BE/BTech in Engineering Physics with 60% marks (55% for SC/ST/PD) or equivalent CPI/CGPA.
  • Applicants must have qualified NET-JRF(Physics)/ GATE(Physics)/ JEST(Physics) examination not earlier than 2018. 
  • The written test is generally based on the topics related to general aptitude, writing skills, and basic courses of various disciplines at the undergraduate level.
  • Those who will fail to qualify in the written test will not be called for an interview.
  • The reserved category candidates will be given a relaxation in cutoff marks as per the institute norms.

IIT Gandhinagar PhD Admission 2020 Selection Process

Check the selection process for PhD admission below in the given points:

  • Admission is generally offered based on an interview, along with the written test.
  • The Institute will invite a few candidates for a written test and interview.
  • The final selection for PhD admission will be mainly based on academic credentials, written test and/or interview.
  • Applicants who will be called for the Test / Interview will be reimbursed any amount exceeding Rs.750/- for to and fro single second-sleeper class railway fare by the shortest route from their place of residence to the Institute /venue of the Test / Interview.
  • It is required to produce evidence in support of the claim.

Before applying for any PhD course candidates must check their eligibility criteria. Follow the below steps and to fill IIT Gandhinagar PhD application form 2020:

  • Visit the official website of the Institute.
  • Click on the link " Apply" given in the admission section.
  • The applicants will get two options they will have to click on one as per their residency.
  • Fill the details by entering personal details, exam details, etc. and submit the form.
  • Submit the fee as per the category.
  • After successful submission of the application form, an application number and link to download the filled form will be shown on the screen itself.
  • If an applicant wants to apply for more than one discipline, please submit a separate application for each discipline as per the norms.
  • After completing the form must take the printout of it for all future references.
