For Geologists Gr 'A' in Geological Survey of India | Should have a Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Earth Science and Resources Management or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geophysical Technology or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act. |
For Geophysicists Grade ' A ' in the Geological Survey of India | M.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the UGC. |

For Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist in the Geological Survey of India, an attached office of the Ministry of Mines, Government of India | He/She must have been born not earlier than 02 January 1988 and not later than 01 January 1999. i.e the Minimum age required is 21 years and the maximum age is 32 Years. |
For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A) in Central Groundwater Board, Ministry of Water Resources | He/She must have been born not later than 01 January 1985 and not later than 01 January 1999 i.e. Minimum age is 21 years and the maximum age is 35 years. |

Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) appoints and conducts examinations for all India services and group A and B posts of central services. Earlier UPSC was known as Federal Public Service Commission which was renamed into today’s Union Public Service Commission after independence. UPSC is consulted by the government of India in matters relating to the methods of recruitment to civil services and for civil posts, transfer, promotion, and disciplinary matters. Being a constitutional body it is autonomous and free, along with the Election commission and the country’s higher judiciary. UPSC is headquartered in Dholpur, New Delhi, India. UPSC's current chairman is Mr Arvind Saxena.
