UPSC CGGE 2023 Preliminary Result has been announced on 31 January 2023. The entrance exam for Mains is going to be held on 19 February 2023. CGGE is also known as the Combined Geo-Scientist Examination which is organized by the Union Public Service Commission. The exam will be conducted once a year at the National level for those who are seeking to get selected for the post of Geologist, Geophysicist and Chemist Group 'A' in GSI and Junior Hydro-geologist (Scientist 'B'), Group 'A' for Central Ground Water Board. UPSC CGGE 2023 Result

The Union Public Service Commission will disclose the UPSC CGGE 2023 Result on the official website on 31 January 2023.
  • The candidates who will clear the preliminary exam will only appear for the main exam.
  • To clear the written exams, the candidates must clear the minimum cut-off of the exam as prescribed by the commission.
  • In the preliminary exam, the candidates are selected in a ratio of 6 or 7 times the total vacancies.

UPSC CGGE 2023 Application Form

. The candidates must know the eligibility criteria of the exam before filling out the form. The UPSC CGGE 2023 Application Form has released on 21 September 2022. Other information relating to the form is as follows:
  • The form is available on the official website of the authority.
  • Now form filling process is over for CGGE 2023 exam.
  • The facility of withdrawal of Application will also be given to those candidates who do not want to appear for the Examination.
  • Those who have filled out the form must keep the printout of it for all other relevant uses.

UPSC CGGE 2023 Application Fee

  • The application fee for all the candidates is Rs. 200/-.
  • The SC, ST, PwD, and Women category candidates are exempted from paying the application fee.
  • The fee can be paid online and offline mode.

UPSC CGGE 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates can check the UPSC CGGE 2023 Eligibility Criteria below in the given points:

  • General Eligibility
    • An applicant must be an Indian citizen

or

    • A subject of Nepal, 

or

    • A subject of Bhutan

or

    • A Tibetan refugee who came over to India before the 1st of January 1962 with the intention of
      permanently settling in India.

or 

    •  A person of Indian origin who has migrated from  Burma, Pakistan, Sri Lanka, or East African
      Countries of Kenya, the United Republic of Tanzania, Uganda, Malawi, Zambia, Zaire, and Ethiopia or from Vietnam to permanently settle in India. 
  • Educational Qualification
For Geologists Gr 'A' in Geological Survey of India Should have a Master's degree in Geological Science or Geology or Applied Geology or Geo-Exploration or Mineral Exploration or Engineering Geology or Marine Geology or Oceanography and Coastal Areas Studies or Earth Science and Resources Management or Petroleum Geosciences or Petroleum Exploration or Geophysical Technology or Geochemistry or Geological Technology or from a University incorporated by an Act of the Central or State Legislature in India or an educational institution established by an Act of Parliament or declared to be deemed university under section 3 of the University Grants Commission Act.
For Geophysicists Grade ' A ' in the Geological Survey of IndiaM.Sc. in Physics or Applied Physics or Geophysics or Integrated M.Sc. (Exploration Geophysics) or M.Sc (Applied Geophysics)  or M.Sc. (Tech.) (Applied Geophysics) or M.Sc. (Marine Geophysics) from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature in India or other educational institutes established by an Act of the Parliament or declared to be deemed universities under the UGC. 
For Chemists Gr 'A' in Geological Survey of India

M.Sc. in Chemistry or Applied Chemistry or Analytical Chemistry from a University incorporated by an Act of Parliament or State Legislature or other educational Institutes established by an Act
of the Parliament or declared to be deemed Universities under UGC.
  • Age Criteria
For Geologist and Geophysicist and Chemist in the Geological Survey of India, an attached office of the Ministry of Mines, Government of IndiaHe/She must have been born not earlier than 02 January 1988 and not later than 01 January 1999. i.e the Minimum age required is 21 years and the maximum age is 32 Years.
For Jr. Hydrogeologist (Scientist B) (Group A) in Central Groundwater Board, Ministry of Water ResourcesHe/She must have been born not later than 01
January 1985 and not later than 01 January 1999 i.e. Minimum age is 21 years and the maximum age is 35 years.

Candidates should ensure that they meet the age eligibility criteria for each post mentioned above.

UPSC CGGE 2023 Admit Card

The candidates must download the UPSC CGGE 2023 Admit Card from the official website on 27 January 2023. The authority will release the Hall Ticket on the official website of UPSC. 
  • Before going to the examination hall aspirants must download their admit card as it is a mandatory document.
  • Enter the following details (RID and Date of Birth or Roll No. (if received) & date of birth or name, father’s name & Date of Birth) to download the e-Admission Certificate.
  • Must carry the printout of the e-Admit Card to the test hall as entry would not be possible without it.
  • In case of any problem in downloading the e-admit card for the Combined Geo-Scientist (Preliminary) Examination 2020 or discrepancy noticed in the e-admit card contact on e-mail: - [email protected]
  • Must carry the original Id proof along with the Admission Ticket to the examination hall for verification purposes.
  • Authority will not send the Hall Ticket via post.
