JEST 2020 Eligibility Criteria is released by the Science & Engineering Research Board (SERB). The Joint Entrance Screening Test (JEST) is conducted by the SERB for admissions into PhD and integrated PhD in computer science, Physics, Computational Biology and Neuroscience. Also known as NET, JEST 2020 has particular eligibility criteria that have to be met by the applying candidates. Various institutes that participate in the JEST 2020 have their specific criteria. JEST 2020 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check their JEST 2020 Eligibility Criteria which mention below. The eligibility criteria for a few institutions may be different from the general eligibility requirement of all the institutions participating in JEST 2020. The candidates are advised to keep checking the official websites of the institutes for revised and sudden changes. 

PhD Programmes Eligibility Criteria 

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria according to courses and institute in which at course available given below:

IIAM.Sc in Mathematics, Applied Physics, Applied Mathematics, Optics and Photonics, Instrumentation, Electronics
B.E or B.Tech
IUCAAM.Sc in Physics, Electronics, Applied Mathematics and Astronomy
IPRM.Sc in Physics, Engineering Physics and Applied Physics
SNBNCBSM.Sc in Physics, Chemistry, Applied Mathematics, Biophysics or Biochemistry
TIFRB. Tech Engineering Physics
NISERM.E, M.Tech in Applied Physics
  • All institutes accept M.Sc in Physics.
Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc
  • M.Sc or M.E or M.Tech in computer science and related disciplines, focusing on the mathematical aspects of Computer Science are considered eligible at IMSc. 
Neuroscience at NBRC
  • M.Sc Physics or Mathematics and B.E, B.Tech or MCA in Computer Science are considered eligible for NRBC. 
Computational Biology at IMSc
  • M.Sc, M.E, M.Tech, MCA in any engineering or science stream with great interest in biological problems and exquisite mathematical skills are considered eligible for IMSc. 

Integrated Programmes Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the eligibility criteria according to courses and institute in which at course available given below:

SNBNCBSB.Sc Physics and Mathematics
IMScB.Sc Physics
IIAB.Sc Physics, Mathematics, B.E or B.TECH in Electrical, Instrumentation, Engineering Physics, Electronics and Communication, Computer Science and Engineering, Optics and Photonics
NISERB.Sc Physics or B.E/B. Tech in Engineering Physics with the minimum first class
Bose InstituteB.Sc Physics or Mathematics or B.E/B. Tech
Theoretical Computer Science at IMSc
  • B.Sc, B.E, B.Tech, MCA in Computer Science or related streams with a profound interest in the mathematical aspects of computer science shall be treated eligible for IMSc. 
M.Tech - Ph.D. Programme at IIA
  • M.Sc Physics, Applied Physics, Post B.Sc (Hons) in Optics and Optoelectronics, Radio Physics and Electronics shall be considered eligible for this particular program. 
 Ph.D. Programme at IISER IISER. Thiruvananthapuram
  • B.Sc Physics or B.E, B.Tech in any branch is considered as eligible for IISER Thiruvananthapuram. 

Important Details about JEST 2020 Eligibility Criteria 

  • The candidates appearing for JEST 2020 must be eligible compulsorily as per the above-mentioned criteria. No relaxation shall be made about eligibility. 
  • JEST 2020 does not have any specified age limit. Hence, candidates of any age can apply to this examination.
