Uttarakhand DElEd 2022 Detailed Syllabus

Syllabus for the English Language:

Synonyms and Antonyms
  • Synonyms means the words which have the same or nearly the same meaning as another word or other words in a language.
  • An Antonym is the opposite of another word. For example, the Antonym of the day is night.
Cloze Test– This test consists of a passage with blanks and we have to complete the reading by filling up the blanks. Students should focus on reading the passage very carefully and then you’ll be able to figure out the right or appropriate words to be filled.
Fill in the blanks– Under this topic, you are required to find a suitable word to fill in. It constitutes questions which have only blanks. Remember to read the statement carefully and choose the most appropriate option.
Spelling Test- Spelling skills can be improved mainly by putting in efforts like looking up a word you're not sure of, keeping the dictionary at hand, keeping a list of words you know you have trouble with.
Idioms and Phrases– The common question which was asked in the SSC Exams are Idioms and Phrases. The topic usually has good weightage in the exam, so prepare them well.
One-word substitution- One-word substitution means a word that replaces a group of words or sentences without creating or changing the exact meaning of sentences.
The sentence or Phrase Improvement– In terms of vocabulary usage, this topic means using appropriate words or phrases to improve the sentence given in the question.

Syllabus for Grammar Usage:

Sentence correction/ Spotting the error– Follow the grammar rules in  this section like subject-verb agreement, Verb time Sequences, etc
Fill in the blanks- This section is dedicated to target or find a suitable word to fill in. It constitutes questions which have only blanks.
A sentence or Phrase Improvement - This topic is just an extension of correct grammatical usage. However, in this section students not only require a good Knowledge of "correct grammatical usage," but they also need to look for answers that are concise and not redundant.
Active/ Passive Voice - In this topic, a sentence will be given in Active/ Passive Voice. Out of the four alternatives suggested, you are required to select the one which best expresses the same sentence in Passive/ Active.
Direct-Indirect Speech - In this topic, a sentence will be given Indirect/Direct Speech. Out of the four alternatives suggested, you are required to select the one which best expresses the same sentence in Indirect/Direct Speech.

Syllabus for Reading Comprehension:

Reading Comprehension is one of the most critical topics of the English Language and Comprehension Section. Therefore, the students should devote ample time to the preparation of this section. For doing this, a proper strategy has to be framed and followed to optimally utilize the limited time available for the preparation.

Syllabus for General Awareness and General Knowledge

National and International significance:-

To assess the knowledge and awareness of candidates towards current events happening around India and the world, this section has multiple questions. Events related to the world and Indian politics, significant discoveries and achievements in the field of science and technology, Awards (world and India), Education and literature, Sports, Economic reports, events of different countries (local and international relations), Terrorism/Anti-terrorism, United Nations and its works in recent times, recent important events in different fields relevant to the general knowledge.

General Knowledge Syllabus & Topics of the Indian and World history along with freedom movements in India:-

History of India and the World, Civilizations, Kings and their reign, Invasions on India, Empires and their reign, Historical events in Indian and world significance, International relations of India in past, Battles and their impacts, East India Company and its acquisition of India, British rule on India. Movements and revolutions in India, Freedom and movements related to the freedom of India, Major revolts and movements of the world.

 Indian and world’s geography

It includes the Geographical knowledge of major parts of the world and India, resources and Earth materials, Rocks and types of rocks, minerals, representation of Earth and its layers. Forests, Issues and problems, Impact of mal-practices with the Earth, Area-wise distinguishing of metals and minerals, oils and gases, conservation of resources, classification of disasters and disaster management, World geography and significant information about changes in the world and economic effects of various aspects.

Indian Constitution, Governance, Public Policy, Political System
Indian civics, Indian politics and history of government in India, Important events related to the Indian politics, Political system and its working, Governance and related aspects of a government rule in India, Political parties, Ministries and selection of Governing party, Selection and voting for the government. Indian constitution: Various legislative terms, amendments and sections, provisions, laws and rules, Human rights and duties, policies for the public
 The Economical and social development 

The social development in India, Economic reports and various aspects of a country’s economy, current events related to world’s economy, Indian economy and process divisions, Issues and the remedies to various problems in the development of a country’s economy, Plans and policies for economic and social development of public, national reports and surveys etc.

Environmental science, Biodiversity and Ecology 

It consists of reports of climate changes, ecological surveys and changes in the bio-diversity and related aspects. The environmental issues and remedies, resources, effects of climate and ecological changes on the world, Pollution, Effects, problems and remedies, Disasters and calamities related to environment and management of problems, Conservation of forests and natural resources, the conventions and meetings about the environment.

 General sciences, Science of regular usage and its applications:-

It includes inventions and discoveries in science, history of inventions, the general application of science in daily life, Science of the body (human), Matter and principles, general science in relation with national and international significance, aspiring projects and related scientific achievements of India and other nations.

Syllabus for Reasoning Ability

  • Coding-Decoding: Coding-Decoding basically judges the candidate’s ability to decipher the code language. In each question of this topic, a word and a coded form of the word will be given. Students are required to decode the logic behind this coding and then apply the same logic to another given word for finding the answer in the form of a code.
  • Arrangement: Questions based on Seating Arrangements are one of the most common and important questions in the Logical Reasoning segment. In this type of question, some people are arranged in a circle, they may be standing or even sitting around a circular table. The other topics covered under this segment are Blood relations, Ranking, Puzzles and Direction Sense.
  • Logic-based: Questions based on logic requires critical thinking and need a lot of time to solve. In the case of Syllogism questions, draw Venn Diagrams to avoid confusion.
  • Miscellaneous: Questions from topics like Clock and Calendar are sometimes asked in the Tier-I exam.
  • Non-verbal: This segment covers topics like Pictorial Analogies, Symbol series, symbolic operations, numeric patterns, spatial relations, space visualizations, Spatial Reasoning, mirror image, and space image are examples of questions.
