IIAD 2024 Application form has been released on August 15, 2023. The exam dates have not yet been announced, but they are expected to be in December or January 2024. The exam will be held in New Delhi only, both online and offline. Candidates can fill the form via online mode from the official website i.e iiad.edu.in. Candidates can choose to give the exam in online mode or offline mode. The offline exam will be conducted in the IIAD Campus. The selection procedure includes the IDAT or IMAT exam followed by a personal interview. Indian Institute of Art and Design - Design Aptitude Test is organized in collaboration with Kingston University, London. It is a University level exam held twice a year. 
IIAD offers admission to the candidates in various undergraduate programs in the following design courses viz; Communication Design, Fashion Design, Interior Architecture & Design & Fashion Business Management. IIAD 2024 Exam Status

Candidates can check the important details related to the IIAD 2024 which is mentioned below:

The IIAD 2024 entrance exam will consist of two sections:

  • Logical Reasoning
  • Creative Thinking and Problem-solving

The exam will be of 2 hours and 30 minutes duration (150 minutes). The medium of the exam is English only.

The selection for admission to IIAD 2024 will be based on the following criteria:

  • Performance in the IIAD 2024 entrance exam
  • Personal interview

The final merit list will be prepared on the basis of the combined scores of the entrance exam and the interview.

The application form for the IIAD 2024 entrance exam can be filled out online or offline. The application fee is INR 1000 for general category candidates and INR 500 for reserved category candidates.

The last date for submission of the application form is November 15, 2023.

Here are some additional details about the IIAD 2024 entrance exam:

  • The question paper will be objective type, with multiple choice questions.
  • There will be a total of 100 questions, each carrying 1 mark.
  • The marking scheme is as follows:
    • Correct answer - 1 mark
    • Incorrect answer - 0 mark
    • Unanswered question - 0.25 mark
  • The answer key for the IIAD 2024 entrance exam will be released on the IIAD website within 15 days of the exam.
  • The result of the IIAD 2024 entrance exam will be announced on the IIAD website within 30 days of the exam.

IIAD 2024 Application Form

Candidates can check the details related to the IIAD 2024 Application form given below. Candidates can submit the Examination form in any mode i.e. online or offline: 

  • Indian Institute of Art and Design has released the IIAD 2024 application form for the December cycle. 
  • Applicants who want to apply online for the various undergraduate and postgraduate programmes can submit their Registration Form along with necessary documents by registering themselves at IIAD’s Online Application Portal. 
  • Candidates will need a valid mobile number and email id to register themselves.
  • Candidates can choose maximum two programs of their choice whilling the appplication form.
  • While filling the application form, candidates have to upload a passport sized photograph and their valid documents.
Note: No multiple application forms shall be entertained.

How to Apply ?

To fill the application form online, candidates can follow the below mentioned steps:

  • Visit the official website or click on the direct link.
  • A new page will appear on the screen, click on the "Click Here to Apply" tab under your desired program.
  • Now, application form window will appear on the screen with all the instructions. Click on "Next" and then, choose any two desired courses of your choice as per the priority.
  • After that, candidates have to fill the personal and address details, family details, academic details, exam and other details in the form.
  • Then, candidates have to click on the self declaration and pay the application fee.
  • After fee payment, candidates may submit the application form and keep a copy of the application form for further use.

IIAD 2024 Registration Fee

Mode of Payment: Candidates have to pay the examination fee of Rs. 2500/- at the time of submission of the Application Form.
  • Candidate can pay IIAD 2024 Registration Fee using Debit Card, Credit Card or Net-Banking.
  • Offline Payment: If any candidate is applying offline, he or she can pay the application fee as Demand Draft at the institute address.

On successful completion of the Application form, the candidate will receive an acknowledgement email from the Admissions Team with relevant information.

Entrance Exams by IIAD

The screening process at IIAD aims to test the merit of a candidate based on their aptitude for design learning. The IIAD Entrance test has two components, which vary based on the course you apply for. Refer to the table given in this section to check your course requirements.

IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) - The IIAD Design Aptitude Test (iDAT) is a written test designed to assess a candidate’s creative and visual ability, cultural awareness and logical thinking. The exam paper is a combination of visual tasks, writing tasks, one-word answers and multiple choice questions.
IIAD Management Aptitude Test ( iMAT) - The IIAD Management Aptitude Test (iMAT) is a written test designed to assess an applicant’s language, logical reasoning and creative thinking. The exam paper is a combination of multiple choice questions and writing tasks.
Studio Simulation - Studio simulation is a workshop where applicants work in small groups to create a 3D model using materials as a response to a given problem. Students work under the supervision and guidance of the IIAD faculty members. Assessment is done based on the skills of making, creative thinking, problem-solving & team work.
Personal Interview - Personal Interview is an opportunity for applicants to have a face to face interaction with IIAD, so that their suitability can be assessed. With this understanding, IIAD can guide the applicant towards how the programme can meet their aspirations and interests.

IIAD 2024 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates must check the IIAD 2024 eligibility criteria before they apply for the exam. The IIAD 2024 Eligibility criteria for Undergraduate and Lateral entry is given below:
For Undergraduate Programmes 
  • Our Undergraduate programme offers a total of 150 seats distributed across four courses:
  1. UG Communication Design
  2. UG Interior Architecture and Design 
  3. UG Fashion Design
  4. UG Fashion Business Management
  • Candidates who have passed their 10+2 examination or equivalent in any stream (Science, Commerce, Humanities or Arts) with 50% are eligible for the exam
  • Candidates who are appearing for their 10+2 examination in 2024 or are waiting for the result can also apply for the exam.

IIAD accepts candidates from any of the below-listed Boards of Education:

  • Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE)
  • Indian Certificate of Secondary Education (ICSE)
  • Indian State Boards
  • National Institute of Open Schooling (NIOS)
  • International Baccalaureate (IB)
  • Cambridge International Examinations (CIE)
  • Or any other approved National or International Education Board.
For Postgraduate Programmes
  • Our Postgraduate programme offers a total of 40 seats distributed across two courses:
  1. Master’s in Fashion Design
  2. Master’s in Fashion Business Management
  • Candidates who have passed their Undergraduate Examination (or equivalent) in any discipline from a recognised Institute or University may apply.
  • Those who are appearing for it in the current academic year or are awaiting their results may also apply.
For Lateral Entry

Also, there is a lateral entry for those who have passed one year in any discipline from a recognised university/board.

Studio Simulation

‘Studio simulation test’ is a two-hour activity process in which a group of 12-15 students is given a brief along with the material. Applicants are required to create a 3D model using that material under the supervision of the faculty. They will be judged based on teamwork, creative thinking, innovation & problem-solving skills.

IIAD 2024 Preparation Tips

While preparing for IIAD, the candidate must keep in mind the following IIAD 2024 Preparation Tips to qualify for the exam with flying colours. Some preparation tips for IIAD is given below for the candidates to follow a study routine: 

  • Candidates should prepare separately for the two sections of the exam to clear both rounds.
  • For the Logical reasoning and creative thinking part, a candidate must refer to the IIAD 2021 Paper pattern and allot time accordingly to both sections.
  • The interview round will showcase the knowledge of the subject candidates are applying for. Therefore, they should have their basic concepts up to the mark in front of the interviewer.
  • For Fashion and Architecture programmes, candidates must create a Portfolio including 2D work like sketches, paintings, drawings, photographs, and 3D work as well to show in Portfolio Assessment. 
  • Candidates need to work on their presentation and communication skills for both Portfolio and Personal interview rounds.

IIAD 2024 Selection Process

IIAD 2024 selection process consists of two steps. Candidates will go through the following two steps for admission at IIAD:

Part 1- The IIAD Design Aptitude Test is consists of two Parts-
  • Section A: Logical Reasoning
  • Section B: Creative Thinking and Visual Ability
  • Test process: This test evaluates the candidates' aptitude for drawing, design ability, power of observation/representation, creativity, imagination, lateral thinking, and writing skills. It also checks the candidate’s environmental awareness through visual and textual questioning.
Part 2-  Studio Simulation
  • Test process: Studio Simulation is a personal interaction session conducted in a studio simulated environment to understand a candidate’s interest in the discipline, evaluate their design aptitude, test their ability to innovate, and assess their capacity to comprehend information and solve problems.

IIAD 2024 Admit Card

The  IIAD 2024 Admit card for Design Aptitude Test will be issued by the Indian Institute of Art and Design in January 2024. The information about the IIAD 2024 Admit card/Hall ticket is given below:
  • Admission Tickets will be available on the official website of IIAD.
  • Candidates can download the admit card online mode only.
  • Candidates can download their admit cards by using their application number and Date of Birth (DOB).
  • Admit cards will be issued to those candidates only who have successfully submitted their application form via online or offline mode.
  • Candidates will not be allowed to enter the examination hall without the IIAD DAT admit card.

IIAD 2024 Result 

IIAD 2024 Results will be released by the Indian Institute of Art & Design online on the official website. Candidates who appeared in IIAD 2024 can check their scorecard by logging with their credentials emailed to them during the registration. The result is prepared based on the performance of candidates in the written and Personal/ Portfolio Assessment rounds conducted in IIAD 2024. Results for both the Admission cycle will be declared separately.

IIAD 2024 Scholarship

IIAD offers Scholarships to the aspirants based on merit. The following eligibility criteria must be fulfilled to get financial aid for completing the course:

  • Candidates must have cleared class 12 with a minimum of 70% marks.
  • The candidate must also submit the completed Scholarship Form along with the Application Form at the time of applying to IIAD. After this, the candidate is only applicable for the scholarship based on his/her performance in the IIAD Entrance Examination comprising DAT and Studio Simulation / Personal Interview.
  • Scholarship application forms with incomplete information or without supporting documents will not be entertained and are liable for rejection.
Scholarships: IIAD provides merit-cum-means scholarships to deserving candidates. Students who successfully complete the IDAT / IMAT Entrance Test will be eligible to apply for the Scholarship. The Scholarship form will be made available along with the offer letter.
Important notice:

1. Undergraduate Fees are inclusive of Kingston University and UGC-approved Indian University Charges.
2. Security Deposit will be refunded on completion of the programme after adjusting any dues.
3. Refund of fees will be governed by IIAD Fees Refund Policy.
4. All fees are subject to change at the discretion of the Institute.
5. Inclusive of govt. taxes as per pre prevalent rates.

IIAD Design Aptitude Test 20242 Courses Offered

Candidates can go through the undergraduate courses offered for admission based on an aspirant's performance in IIAD Aptitude Test 2024. The list of courses is given below:

  • Fashion Design: The course mainly focuses on holistic learning and help to understand the basic fundamental of design analysis to create or enhance fashion.  Insights gained in the processes of design, also emphasis in new age theories, methods, and techniques which is useful in developing a deep visual vocabulary and express judgments about form & composition.
  • Communication Design: The aim of the Communication Design (CD) program is to develop an understanding and mastery of communication design principles, skills, and theories. Communication design can be defined in broad terms, ranging from printed work to interactive displays, all in the service of informing, educating, and delighting people. The CD program teaches a problem-solving approach to communication, with a special concern for the people affected by any designed communication.
  • Interior Architecture and Design: Interior design focuses on designing interactions for the physical, cognitive as well as social environments using New Media and emerging technologies. The programme performs some experiments based on learning of how people perceive, understand, use and experience interactive objects, digital environments, and spaces. Drawing based on an interdisciplinary approach that brings together product design, information architecture, visual communication, cognitive psychology, and computer science, the course involves exploration of alternatives, pushing the envelope of what is known.
  • Fashion Business and Management: This program will help students develop the skills and knowledge necessary to become future business leaders in the fashion industry. The program's Fashion Business and Management courses include various subjects such as the design and manufacturing process, the evolution of fashion and design and their relationship to designers, producers, and retailers, Ethical and sustainability along with innovative practices for leadership in the global fashion industry, design trends and technologies to predict sales dynamic for fashion products and services

Indian Institute of Art and Design - Design Aptitude Test

iDAT which is also known as the IIAD Design Aptitude Test is conducted to offer admission in various undergraduate and postgraduate design programmes.  

IIAD entrance exam is a two-hour and thirty minutes written test where candidates are evaluated on their drawing and design skills, imaginative and creative expression, observation skills, as well as communication and visual strengths. The admission process for IIAD entrance exam is such that after appearing for the written test candidates have to appear for a studio simulation (for UG candidates) or personal interview (for PG candidates) round.
