HSEE 2020 Exam Pattern: HSEE Question Pattern, Marking Scheme, Duration

HSEE 2020 (Humanities and Social Science Entrance Examination 2020) will be held on 19 April 2020. This exam is conducted by Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras). The exam is held once in a year to offers admission in five years integrated Masters Programme in humanities and social sciences subjects offered by an IIT. Candidate must study the exam pattern for HSEE 2020 before preparing for the exam. Applicants must go through the details regarding the exam pattern in the below-given article. Below are some courses offered in MA programs (Integrated 5 years course):
  • Integrated M.A. in Development Studies
  • Integrated M.A. in English Studies

HSEE 2020 Exam Pattern

Applicants must check the pattern for the HSEE 2020  before appearing for it. Questions will be completely based on the given exam pattern. Candidate must study the exam pattern very carefully before starting the preparation of the exam. Through the exam pattern, the candidate will get a brief idea about how and what type of questions will be there in the HSEE 2020 exam. The question paper will be divided into two parts i.e. Part 1 and Part 2

Exam Pattern for Part 1-
  • Mode: Exam will be conducted in Online mode.
  • Language- Question Paper will be in the English language.
  • Duration- The exam will be of 2 hours 30 minutes.
  • Marking scheme- Each correct answer will consist of 1 marks.
  • Negative Marking- There is no negative marking in the exam.
  • Total Questions- There will be a total 30-35 questions..
  • Type of Questions- There will be multiple choice questions in the exam.

Part 1 will be conducted before Part 2 of the exam. Candidates may go through the exam pattern for Part1 mentioned in above details and  prepare for the exam accordingly. Applicants should carefully go through the complete exam pattern which will definately help in achieveing good scores.

Exam Pattern for Part 2 (Essay Writing)-
  • Mode: Exam will be conducted in Offline mode.
  • Language- Question Paper will be in the English language.
  • Duration- The exam will be of 30 minutes.
  • Marking scheme- As per the exam authority.
  • Negative Marking- There is no negative marking in the exam.
  • Total Questions- There will be topic for essay writing
  • Type of Questions- This exam will be descriptive.

Part 2 will be conducted after Part 1 of the exam. Part 2 of the exam is an essay writing in which candidates have to write an essay on the given topic. Sheets will be provided to the candidate for the essay writing. Candidates may go through the exam pattern for Part2 mentioned in above details and  prepare for the exam accordingly. Applicants should carefully go through the complete exam pattern which will definately help in achieveing good scores.

HSEE 2020: Schedule of Examination 

Candidates must go through the schedule of the examination of HSEE 2020 before going for it. Applicants has to report on the exact timing in the examination hall. Applicants reporting late in the examination hall will be considered as latecomers and will not be allowed to give the exam.

  • The exam will be held on Sunday, 19 April 2020.
  • Exam will be held between 10:00 IST and 13:00 IST.

Items Prohibited in the Examination Hall:

Electronic devices like mobile phone, calculator, iPod, iPad and headphones, etc. are NOT PERMITTED in the examination hall. Further, items such as log table, abacus, slide rule, textbooks, notebooks, and geometry box, etc. and any other means of calculation are also strictly prohibited in the examination hall. If any candidate found with any of this item in the examination hall, then the candidate's  exam will get cancelled.
