TISSNET 2023 Eligibility Criteria: Age Limit, Qualification, Reservation

TISSNET 2023 Eligibility Criteria is set by the Tata Institute of Social Sciences (TISS), the conducting body. TISS National Entrance Test is a National Level entrance exam that is organised to offer admission into various Postgraduate courses offered by the University. Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree to appear for the NET exam for the admission to Master of Arts (M.A.), Master of Science (M.Sc) and BEd-MEd Integrated Programmes. Candidates can go through the eligibility criteria given in the article before applying for the exam. TISS NET 2023 Result declared on March 23, 2023.

TISSNET 2023 Eligibility Criteria

Eligibility should be ensured by the candidates before applying for the TISS National Entrance Test Registration 2023. If in case any candidate is found to be ineligible for the exam at any stage, his/her candidature will be cancelled and will not be allowed to proceed with the further admission procedure. Check the TISSNET 2023 Eligibility given below:
  • Applicants should fulfil the eligibility criteria of minimum prescribed educational qualification.
  • Candidates shortlisted for Personal Interview (PI) will have to produce original certificate and mark sheet at the time of the personal interview, for verifying whether the candidate is eligible for admission or not. 
  • Candidates who are in the final year but at the same time they are also eligible for the exam, have to produce the mark sheets of all previous semesters (excluding the final semester) for verification on the date of personal interview. 
  • If the applicant did not bring the aforesaid certificates in original will not be allowed to appear for the interview.

TISS provides admission in the above-mentioned courses at Mumbai, Tuljapur, Guwahati, Hyderabad campuses and other centres locations like Chennai and Nagaland. And the courses wise eligibility for each campus is different. Therefore, TISSNET 2023 Eligibility Criteria for the courses offered by each campus is given below in detail:

TISSNET Eligibility for Mumbai Campus

Holds an LL.B. Degree with 50% marks (45% marks in case of SC/ST).

If candidates are appearing in final LL.B. Examination in April/May 2020 can also apply for the exam.

10Master of Arts in Applied Psychology (Clinical and Counseling Practice)

Candidates who have completed/are in the process of completing B.A./B.Sc. Honours in Psychology or B.A./B.Sc. General – with a minimum of three papers in Psychology can apply for the exam.

Candidates who have completed any Bachelors Degree from a recognized University and have completed a University recognized one-year, part-time/full-time post-graduate diploma in counselling fulfilling the UGC criterion of minimum 40 credits (Distance and online diploma courses will not be considered).

Also, final year candidates should complete all examinations and internship (wherever applicable) on or before 08 June 2020.

B.Ed-M.Ed (Integrated, Three-Years)*

Candidates with a Masters degree (MSc/MA/MCom) are eligible to apply for the B.Ed-M.Ed (Integrated, Three-Years) programme. They will be admitted to the relevant pedagogic specialisation based on their academic disciplinary specialisation/major.

As per NCTE, candidates should have a minimum of 55% marks (50% marks in case of SC/ST candidates) in their postgraduate qualification.

If the candidates are able to complete all the requirements of their final year Master's degree examination by 08 June 2020 will only be eligible to apply.

NOTE: *Till the time the candidates submit the results of their final year examination, admission to any of the Master's Degree Programmes of the Institute will be provisional. The results of the final examination have to be submitted before 30 September 2023. For those who fail to do so, their provisional admission will stand cancelled.

Minimum Educational Qualification required for TISSNET 2023

In the above section, we have told about the eligibility criteria that each candidate have to fulfil for applying for the TISSNET 2023 exam. The minimum educational qualification that candidates should have is mentioned below in detail. Therefore, candidates can check the TISSNET 2023 eligibility criteria of qualification required from given data:

  • Candidates must hold a Bachelor's or Master's Degree of at least 3 or 4 years duration or its equivalent (under the 10+2+3 or 10+2+4 or 10+2+2+1 pattern of study or any other pattern fulfilling the mandatory requirements of 15 years formal education) from a UGC recognized university of India.
  • Some master degree programmes have some additional/ specific requirement also that is mentioned in the table above. Candidates make sure to fulfil all the parameters required for specific programmes.
  • If in case, candidates are able to complete all the requirements of their final year eligible degree (including all examinations and internships, if applicable) successfully by 08 June 2023 then they can also apply for the exam.
  • The candidates who will be eligible to apply but can not submit the final year certificate and grade/mark sheet at the time of admission can submit these latest by 30 September 2023. The last date to submit the certificate or mark sheet will not be extended under any circumstances.
  • It should be notified that if the candidates fail to submit the required documents till 30 September 2023, their provisional admission will automatically be cancelled without the prior reference to the candidate.
  • At the time of applying, candidates should have passed in all the subjects for semester 1 to semester 4 (3-year degree programme) and semester 1 to semester 6 (4-year degree programme).
  • If the eligibility filled by the candidates in the application form at the time of registration is found to be incorrect or misleading at any point of time, then their candidature/admission will be cancelled.
