• Online Test: There is a multiple-choice format for the online exam that includes physics, arithmetic, analytical and logical reasoning. The questions are at level 10 + 2. There is one mark each with a negative mark and one hour is the length of the exam.
• Personal Interview: Candidates are evaluated to test the communication skills, leadership ability, clarity of thinking, intelligence, and reasoning abilities of the candidates by a panel of educators and maritime professionals. The panel also searches for the applicant for any extracurricular accomplishments.

• Medical Examination: All selected applicants for qualification will be reviewed by medical practitioners appointed by the Institute for confirmation of the medical criteria set by the Institute.
