Courses & Eligibility For Engineering Courses

The first question arises in the mind of the student about the eligibility criteria in which he/she is going to enrol. For Engineering Field, the minimum requirement of a student is that he has passed with a minimum of 50% in 12th in Science with Mathematics or PCM. For Under-Graduation there is an age limit is in between “17 to 23” of the candidate. For Post-Graduation and Doctorate, there is no age limit.

Courses offered for Science with Mathematics or PCM in 10+2 have many options to persuade career, which is as follows:-

Diploma Courses in Engineering

Diploma courses in Engineering are for 3 years course which, a candidate can apply for it after his 10th with the percentage of 35% by Science (including Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics).

Bachelor Courses in Engineering

Bachelor in Engineering (B.E.) and Bachelor in Technology (B.Tech.) are of 4 years a full-time undergraduate course which is conducted by many engineering disciplines in and outside of India. Admission in B.Tech. & B.E. candidate must be passed 10+2 in PCM.

Master Courses in Engineering

Masters in Engineering (M.E.)/ Masters in Technology (M.Tech.) are for 2 years degree course which can be studied after the completion of Bachelor Degree. It can also be persuaded after clearing the GATE (Graduate Aptitude Test Engineering).

PhD or Doctoral of Philosophy in Engineering is the advanced research course of engineering which has a minimum duration of 3 years (which may vary from college to college due to topics of PhD).

ADMISSION:-

In UG and PG Engineering courses, there are many Entrance tests, which are conducted at every level i.e. National Level, State Level or Individual Level (which are conducted by individual colleges or universities by their own).

IITs (Indian Institute of Technology), NITs (National Institute of Technology) and other well-recognised bodies conducts entrance exam which is known as JEE Main & Advanced (Joint Entrance Exam). Some states also conduct their own entrance exams for providing admission in B.Tech/B.E. programme are:-

  • JCECE (conducted by Jharkhand Government)
  • BCECE(conducted by Bihar Board)
  • TS EAMCET ( conducted by Telangana state)
  • AP EAMCET (conducted by Andhra Pradesh)
  • UPESEAT ( conducted by Uttar Pradesh)

For M.E. / M.Tech. The candidate has to appear the Graduate Aptitude Test in Engineering (GATE) at National Level. Some state also conducts Entrance Exam like:-

  • PGECET (Tamil Nadu Post Graduate Common Entrance Test)
  • AP PGECET (Andhra Pradesh Post Graduate Common Entrance Test)
  • TANCET
  • CUCET

Career In Engineering

After engineering in graduation i.e. B.Tech, one has many options for career growth. He can join Co-operate world; can persuade Masters in Engineering and in Management too. Can fulfil his dream to run a business and become an Entrepreneur too. There is a lot of scope in the Government sector too. He can give IES (Indian Engineering Services), UPSC (Union Public Service Commission). After B.Tech candidate can also prefer for master’s degree i.e. M.Tech or M.E. or MBA (if he is interested in management).
