UPSC ESE 2027: Exam Dates, Eligibility & Syllabus

UPSC Engineering Services Examination 2027 will be organised by the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). This national-level exam is conducted once every year. It recruits candidates to services and posts under the following categories:

• Civil Engineering (Category I )
• Mechanical Engineering (Category II)
• Electrical Engineering (Category III)
• Electronics & Telecommunication Engineering (Category IV)                                                 

UPSC ESE will comprise of three rounds of recruitment which are mentioned below: 

• Stage ‐I: Preliminary stage

UPSC ESE 2027 Notification: Application, Exam Pattern, and Important Dates

 The candidates need to read the complete article to know more about the UPSC ESE entrance exam. 

• The UPSC ESE 2027 admit card is yet to be made available for download; the release date is expected to be announced by UPSC.
• Once released, candidates can download the admit card from the official websites: upsc.gov.in and upsconline.nic.in.
• Download your admit card before 4 PM on the day preceding the exam, as per the standard UPSC practice.
• The UPSC ESE 2027 Mains exam date is expected to be announced by UPSC in due course.
• The exam is typically conducted in two sessions: the first from 9 AM to 12 noon and the second from 2 PM to 5 PM.
• Entry into the examination hall closes 10 minutes before the start of the exam; no candidate will be admitted after that point.

UPSC ESE 2027 Exam Pattern

• Imp. Note: Stage 3 will be a personality test for 200 Marks
•  ESE preliminary exam will be an MCQs test whereas the UPSC ESE Mains exam will be the conventional type test.
• A candidate in the Premilinary exam will be awarded 1 mark for each correct attempt whereas 1/3rd of the marks will be deducted for every wrong answer.

UPSC ESE 2027 Result 

UPSC first declares the ESE Preliminary exam result online at its official website. The result is published in PDF format, listing the roll numbers of candidates who qualify for the Engineering Services Main Examination.

• UPSC also releases marks and cut-off marks for the Preliminary exam once the entire Engineering Services Examination process concludes.
• Candidates who are not satisfied with their result or need clarification can contact the Commission in person at the Facilitation Counter on its campus or over the helpline numbers.
• After the UPSC ESE 2027 Main exam result is declared, shortlisted candidates will be called for the Interview / Personality Test.

UPSC ESE 2027 Application Form

The following details pertain to the UPSC ESE 2027 Application Form:

• Applicants need to fill out the application form online only.
• The application form is available on the official website of UPSC (www.upsconline.nic.in).
• The link for filling the applications was disabled after the last date for online form submission
• The exam authority had provided the facility of withdrawing the applications. 
• Candidates could submit only one application.
• Applicants submitting more than one application had to ensure that the application having a higher RID (Registration ID) is complete in all respects such as basic details, examination centre,  application fee, photograph, signature, etc.
• Only, applications with higher RID shall be entertained.
• Furthermore, the application fee paid against one RID could not be adjusted against any other RID. 
• Besides this, applicants must provide a valid & active e‐mail i.d. while filling up the online application form as the Commission might use electronic mode for contacting them.
• Also, the applications which will be found without the prescribed fee/mode shall be summarily rejected. 
• Incomplete or defective applications might lead to its rejection.
• While filling their application form, the candidates must carefully decide and fill about their choice for the exam centre and engineering discipline for the examination.

The candidate must be ready with the following documents to fill the application form:

• Class 10, 12, and graduation mark sheets.
• Candidate’s recent coloured passport size photograph
• Scanned image of candidate’s Signature 
• Scanned image of candidate’s Photo ID proof
• Category Certificate (if applicable)
• Physical disability certificate (if applicable)
• Banking details to pay fees online

• By cash in any SBI branch
• Online: Net banking facility of   State Bank of India or by using any Master/ Visa/ RuPay Credit/ Debit Card.

UPSC ESE 2027 Eligibility Criteria

They must have an Engineering Degree from a Recognised University

Furthermore, a candidate should have cleared both Sections A and Section B of Examinations of Institution  of  Engineers  (India)

They must have done a Diploma/ Degree in Engineering from a foreign College/ University/ Institution.

Applicants must have cleared the Graduate Membership Exam of the Institution of Electronics and Radio Engineers, London.

They must have passed Parts II and III of the Associate Membership Examination of the Aeronautical Society of India.
