CA CPT 2023 or Chartered Accountant Common Proficiency Test is scraped by the Institute of Chartered Accountants organizes which is the qualifying and first stage examination for Chartered Accountancy Program. The Common Proficiency Test (CPT) is a national-level entrance exam that is conducted by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of India (ICAI) for admission to the Chartered Accountancy (CA) course. The CPT is a computer-based test (CBT) and consists of 100 multiple-choice questions.

Latest Update:

The CPT 2023 exam will be conducted on June 24, 25, 26, and 30, 2023. The exam will be held in two shifts:

• Shift 1: 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM
• Shift 2: 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM

Why is ICAI going to scrap the CPT exam?

According to the ICAI, the entire curriculum was being revamped, and therefore, the ICAI wanted to make a single entry accounting system for various government accounts instead of double entry. As a result, the accounts of government departments became more transparent.

Previously, the CPT exam was held for class 12 pass out candidates, and it was of 200 marks. However, it was replaced by the Foundation course, which was of 400 marks for 12th class pass outs.

Furthermore, the ICAI introduced a new rule for direct admission in the CA course. Candidates who scored 55 percent marks in B.com and 60 percent marks in B.Sc or B.Tech were eligible for direct enrolment in the CA course. According to sources, the ICAI abolished the CPT entrance exam for CA aspirants from November 2016 and reinstated the Foundation course.

CA CPT 20201 Application Correction Window

• The correction window is available in two separate sessions.
• Session first which is called “Correction Window” will be free of cost.
• Session second which is called “Corrections with fee-Window” will be for a fee of Rs 1000/- per application.
