A candidate can give JEE Main exam six times over a period of three consecutive years. In a year, a candidate can appear for JEE Main twice in the months of January and April.

Number of Attempts Allowed:
The National Testing Agency (NTA) allows a maximum of 2 attempts to be taken by the candidate in JEE Main 2024 before they can appear for the next stage, advanced. These three attempts can be both in January and April sessions. However, if a student decides to take more than 2 attempts, only their best attempt will be considered in the final assessment process.
2. Applicability of Scores:
The scores obtained in any one of the attempts made in JEE Main will remain valid for subsequent admissions unless and until a new entrance exam is introduced or rules regarding admission procedure change drastically. Thus, after clearing JEE Main 2024 thrice and making it to the top 20 percentile, a student may not have to do any further exams since all three of their scores could be accepted by engineering institutes/universities across India offering admissions into BTech courses.
3. Age Limit:
As per NTA guidelines, an age limit has been set for candidates willing to participate in JEE Main 2024. Aspiring candidates should not be above 25 years old on or before 1st July 2024 as per the eligibility norms prescribed by NTA. If someone exceeds this age limit, then they won’t be allowed to appear in the entrance exams under any circumstances whatsoever despite passing through all other stages necessary for participation such as form filling etcetera.
4. Change of Category:
In case candidates want to apply as applicants belonging to different categories such as SC/ST/OBC/General then they are required to inform NTA beforehand via proper documentation and other means so that no discrepancy arises at later stages when contenders take Mains Exams three times earlier or at later stages when results are made available on official websites or local centers hosting events related to these tests respectively.
