The Assam Department of Elementary Education (DEE) conducts an exam every year for the Teacher Eligibility Test (TET) for which it releases the Assam TET 2021 Eligibility Criteria. The candidates applying for the exam must fulfil the Assam TET 2021 Eligibility Criteria or else they won’t be allowed to sit for the examination. It is mandatory for the candidates to fulfil the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria, that includes age limit, educational qualification, nationality, number of attempts, etc. The candidates must apply for the exam once the application form is released to avoid any hassle or confusion later on.

Assam TET Eligibility Criteria - Age Limit
The minimum age to apply for the TET 2022 exam is 18 years and the maximum age to apply for the TET exam is 38 years according to the Assam TET 2022 Eligibility Criteria. The candidates wanting to appear for the examination must fit in the eligibility criteria. There is age relaxation for different categories that is provided by the Department. The age relaxation table is mentioned below.

Assam TET Eligibility Criteria - Educational Qualification
The Assam TET exam is conducted for the post of the lower primary teacher and the upper primary teacher. The Educational Qualification required by both the posts varies as per the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria laid out by the Department. The candidates applying for any of the posts must be qualified for the post or else they won’t be allowed to sit for the examination.
Lower Primary Teacher
- The candidates having a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education Degree are eligible to apply for the post.
- The candidates having a 2-year B.El.Ed (Bachelor of Elementary Education) Degree are also eligible to apply for the post.
- The candidates having a Degree in any Special Education will also be allowed to appear for the exam.
Upper Primary Teacher
- The candidates in Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4 year B. El. Ed (Bachelor in Elementary Education) are eligible to apply for the exam.
- The candidates in Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and 4-year B.A./ B. Sc. Ed. Or B.A. Ed/ B. Sc. Ed are also eligible to apply for the exam.
- Candidates with a graduate degree with at least 50% marks are also eligible to apply.
- The candidates with Graduation with at least 50% marks and 1 year B. Ed (Bachelor in Education) are liable to apply.
- Any Graduate and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education is liable to apply.
Assam TET Eligibility Criteria - Nationality
According to the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria, the candidates fulfilling the below-mentioned criteria will be eligible to apply for the Assam TET exam.
- The candidate must be a citizen of India. If the candidate is not a citizen of India, he/she will not be able to apply for the exam.
- The candidate must be a permanent resident of Assam.
Assam TET Eligibility Criteria - No. of Attempts
There is no specific number of attempts laid out by, according to the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria to appear for the Assam TET exam. The candidates can attempt as much as they would want until they cross the maximum age. The candidates belonging to different categories can give as many tries as they want until they hit the age limit as per the age relaxations provided by the Department.
Assam TET Eligibility Criteria - Experience
There is no prior experience required to appear for the Assam TET exam. The candidates having no experience at all are also eligible to apply for the exam as per the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria.

There are a few important things that they remember when they apply for the Assam TET examination. Apart from fulfilling the Assam TET Eligibility Criteria, the candidates must be aware of certain things. The important information regarding the Assam TET exam is mentioned below.
- There will be no negative marking in the Assam TET exam.
- The tentative date for the Assam TET examination is somewhere in November 2020 so the candidates must start preparing accordingly.
- The candidates must be in sound health, with good moral character, and must not be linked with any criminal case.
- The candidates must keep an eye on the official Assam website as any latest information regarding the exam will be first updated there.
- The candidates must fill the application form once it is released before the due date and must double-check before submitting. The candidates must ensure that the details in the application form have no errors whatsoever.
