The five main eligibility criteria for appearing in JEE Advanced 2019 is listed below. Candidates should carefully go through these before filling the application form. JEE Advanced 2019 Eligibility Criteria consist of points such as Mains score, age limit etc. JAB conducts JEE Advanced jointly with one of the seven zonal IITs. Criteria 1: Performance in JEE Main 2019:

Firstly, all the candidates willing to take admission in the Undergraduate Programs at IITs and ISM Dhanbad for the year 2019 must appear in Paper 1 (B.E. / B. Tech.) of JEE Main 2019. Also, the candidates should be among the top 2,24,000 (including all categories). And, they must have positive marks in Paper-1 of JEE Main 2019. Recently JAB decided to increase the number of eligible candidates from 2.20 lakh to 2.24 lakh for JEE 2019.

Admissions to IITs / ISM Dhanbad will be only on the basis of category-wise AIRs (All India Ranks) in JEE Advanced 2019, subject to the conditions that are available in JEE Advanced 2019 official website.

Reservation Criteria:

The percentage of various categories are as follows:

Finally, 3% horizontal reservation is available for PWD (including Dyslexia) candidates in all the four categories.

Note: The total number of students may be slightly greater than 2,24,000 in case of “tied” ranks/scores in any category.

Criteria 2 – Age Limit

Applicants should be born on or after 01 October 1993. However, the PWD/SC/ST applicants Date of birth must be on or after 01 October 1988.

Criteria 3 – Number of Attempts

Every candidate has got a maximum of 2 consecutive attempts in consecutive years irrespective of whether or not he/she qualifies the Qualifying Examination. Hence, the candidate who took the JEE Advanced exam in 2016 or earlier can not again appear in 2019. This a very stringent rule and every candidate has to abide by it. Criteria 4 – Appearance in Class XII (or equivalent) examination

A candidate who has appeared for the Class 12th (or equivalent) Board for the 1st time in either 2017 or 2019. 

However, candidates whose Class 12th (or equivalent) examination results for the 2015-16 academic year were declared after June 2016 are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2019.

Criteria 5 – Previous admission to IITs

The candidates who had taken admission in any institute other than IITs and ISM Dhanbad in 2017 are eligible to appear in JEE Advanced 2019 if they satisfy other eligibility criteria.

A candidate who has NOT taken admissions in an IIT previously (irrespective of he/she continued in the program or not) OR a candidate who accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past.

Moreover, the candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled for some reasons are also NOT eligible to appear in JEE Advanced this year.

JEE Advanced 2019 Eligibility Criteria for the Candidates in Preparatory Courses at IITs.

Furthermore, candidates who have been admitted to any of the IITs for preparatory courses, the first time in 2018 can appear in 2019 JEE Advanced. Also, the candidates who have paid fees for seat acceptance but did not accept the seat in any manner are eligible to appear in Advanced JEE  2019.
