AFCAT (1) 2021 Eligibility Criteria is set by the Indian Air Force(exam conducting body). This entrance exam is a National-level exam conducted twice a year - in February and August. AFCAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Candidates applying for the AFCAT examination must ensure that they fulfil all the eligibility conditions for admission to the examination. Admission at each stage will be through the entrance exam and SSB test, subject to their satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions. If candidates found ineligible at any time, their candidature will be canceled by the IAF. Must go through the given below details of AFCAT 2021 Eligibility:

AFCAT General Eligibility Criteria 2021

Those who want to take admission in AFCAT must go through the given below points related to basic information:

  • Nationality: Applicants who wish to apply for AFCAT must possess Indian citizenship.
  • Age Limit: Check the age criteria for AFCAT entrance exam-

Lower Age: 20 Years and Upper Age: 24 Years 

Those who have valid and current commercial pilot License which is issued by DGCA (India) can apply at the age of 26 years

Ground Duty (Technical and Non-Technical) Branch

Lower Age: 20 Years

Upper Age: 26 Years

Marital Status
  • Those who are below 25 years of age must be unmarried.
  • Those who are below 25 years of widow/widowers and divorces are not eligible.
Accepted DOB: Candidates should note that only Matriculation/Higher Secondary Examination Certificate or an equivalent certificate DOB, on the date of submission of application, will be accepted by the IAF and no subsequent request for its change will be considered or granted.

AFCAT (1) 2021 Educational Qualification Criteria

Those who have a valid degree are eligible for the entrance. Check the given below table of educational qualification to ensure eligibility:

  • Must secure at least 60% marks in each mathematics and physics in class 12 board exam.
  • Graduation with a minimum of three years degree course in any discipline with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized University. (OR)
  • BE/B Tech degree (Four years course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized university. (OR)
  • Cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized university.

AFCAT Eligibility for Ground Duty (Technical)

  1. Aeronautical Engineer (Electronics) {AE (L)}
  • A minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level with a minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/ Technology from recognized University (OR)
  • Should have cleared sections A and B exam of Aeronautical Society of India or Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Graduate membership exam of the Institution of Electronics and Telecommunication Engineers by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-​

  1. Aeronautical Engineer (Mechanical) {AE (M)}
  • A minimum of four years degree graduation/integrated post-graduation qualification in Engineering/Technology from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks each in Physics and Mathematics at 10+2 level (OR)
  • Have cleared sections A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India by actual studies with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in the following disciplines:-

AFCAT Eligibility for Ground Duty (Non-Technical)

The eligibility criteria differ as per the departments, the same are listed below:

  • Administration & Logistics: Graduate Degree (minnimum three years degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized university or cleared section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized university.
  • Accounts: B.Com Degree (Minimum three years degree course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized university.
  • Education: MA/ MSc degree in English/ Statistics/Physics/ Mathematics/ Chemistry/ International relations/ International Studies/ Defence Studies/ Psychology/ Computer Science/ IT/ Management/ Mass Communication/ Journalism/ Public Relation or MBA/ MCA with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together.
  • NCC Special Entry (Flying Branch): NCC Air Wing Senior Division ‘C’ certificate acquired on or after 01 January. Candidates should have passed the 10+2 level in Maths and Physics with a minimum of 60% marks each. Graduates with a minimum of three years degree course with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent in any discipline from a recognized University. (OR) BE/B Tech degree (four years course) with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent from a recognized University OR Candidates who have cleared Section A & B examination of Associate Membership of Institution of Engineers (India) or Aeronautical Society of India from a recognized University with a minimum of 60% marks or equivalent. 
  • Meteorology: Post Graduate Degree in any Science stream/ Mathematics/ Statistics / Geography / Computer Applications/Environmental Science/ Applied Physics/ Oceanography / Meteorology /Agricultural Meteorology/Ecology & Environment /Geophysics/Environmental Biology with a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate of all papers put together (Provided Maths and Physics were studied at Graduation Level with a minimum of 55% marks in each).

AFCAT Physical & Medical Fitness Criteria 

Check a few basic information concern with AFCAT physical and medical criteria: 

  • According to the Indian Air Force (IAF), physical & medical requirements are the same for all branches except aircrew in which the parameters are parameters for visual acuity, anthropometry, and certain other physical standards are precise. 
  • If authority found any disease or disability during the training session, those cases will transfer to IAM for aircrew, specialists of MH (for non-aircrew) under intimation to the office of DGMS (Air)-Med-7

AFCAT Physical Criteria

To apply for AFCAT, candidates have to be physically and mentally fit. Candidates are advised to check their medical condition before filling AFCAT Application Form, to avoid rejections at a later stage. Candidates must be free from any disease or disability.

Given below are the height and weight eligibility standards for both male and female candidates for various jobs of the Indian Air Force. Candidate must note that the acceptable weight will be ± 10% of the average weight given below:

Instruction For AFCAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria 

Those candidates who have qualified LLB and integrated/ dual degree candidates may get an opportunity to be employed on the legal duties of the IAF (after commissioning).

  • Applicants who are in the final year course and are yet to pass the final year degree examination can also apply provided the applicant would not have any present backlog and would have a score of a minimum of 60% marks up to the last semester.
  • They are required to submit proof of passing the Degree Examination by 30 May 2021 and no request for extending this date will be entertained on the grounds like delay in declaration of results, late conduct of minimum qualifying University examination or any other ground whatsoever.
  • An aspirant who has failed the Computerised Pilot Selection System (CPSS)/ Pilot Aptitude Battery Test (PABT) in an earlier attempt or a Flight Cadet suspended from flying training at Air Force Academy will not be eligible to apply in Flying Branch.
  • An applicant who was admitted to an earlier course at the National Defence Academy(NDA), Indian Military Academy(IMA), Air Force Academy, Indian Naval Academy(INA), Officers’ Training Academy, Chennai and Officer’s Training Academy Gaya but was removed on grounds of indiscipline are ineligible to apply.
  • An applicant who is debarred by the Ministry of Defence from holding any type of commission in the Defence Services shall not be eligible for AFCAT and if admitted, their candidature will be cancelled.
