NEET 2020 cutoff: 2019,2018 Qualifying Percentile Score and Marks

NEET 2020 cutoff will be released by National Testing Agency (NTA) along with the release of the bulletin. The NEET 2020 cutoff scores will be announced by 04 June along with the result. NEET cut off 2020 varies according to the category of candidate. Medical aspirants must have to secure NEET 2020 minimum cutoff score to qualify the offline entrance exam. NEET cutoff 2020 for General category candidates is 50 percentile, while for SC/ST/OBC aspirants will be 40% percentile.
In accordance with NEET 2019 statistics, out of 14,10,755 appeared candidates, only 7,97,042 candidates qualified the exam by securing equal to or more than NEET cutoff percentile. As per 2019 NEET exam, unreserved category aspirants had to secure minimum of NEET cut off marks which lies between 701-130, to score the 50th percentile. While candidates from reserved categories had to score marks range of 133-170. India. Based on the cutoff percentile of NEET 2020 exam, the merit list will be prepared by Medical Counselling Committees (MCC) for admission to 15% AIQ, deemed/central universities, AFMS and ESIC institutes. While the state counselling authorities will use NEET 2020 cut off for granting admission to 85% state quota seats and other private institutes in the state.

Factors determining NEET 2020 cutoff 

Given below are some factors determining NEET cut off for admission:

  • Number of candidates appeared NEET exam

  • Difficulty level of exam

  • Total seats available

NEET 2020 cut off - percentile vs marks

According to the official brochure, NEET cutoff provides the performance comparison of a candidate with others. This means that NEET 2020 cutoff percentile will be based on the highest marks obtained in the merit list for admission in MBBS/BDS courses. For example, NEET cut off 2020 percentile for general category tells that candidates are required to score not less than 50% of applicants from the same category.

NEET 2020 cutoff  tie-breaker

If two or more candidates have scored equal NEET cut off qualifying scores, the authority will use tie-breaking criteria to prepare NEET 2020 merit list. Given below are some steps in order of preference that the authority will follow to break the tie:

  • Higher marks in Biology: Candidates securing higher scores in Biology (Botany and Zoology) will be preferred first for merit list.
  • Higher marks in Chemistry: If the tie still exists, then the candidates with higher marks in Chemistry will be considered.
  • Number of incorrect answers: If the tie is still present, candidates with less number of incorrect attempted answers will be allotted better rank.
  • Age: At last, the candidate's age will be taken into consideration. Elder candidates will be given higher rank in the merit list.

NEET 2020 cutoff for admission

The NEET 2020 cut off will be considered for admission to the following UG medical seats:

  • 15% All India Quota (AIQ) seats

  • 85% State Quota seats

  • Deemed and Central universities

  • ESIC and AFMS

  • Private institutes

NEET cutoff 2020 for 15% All India Quota seats

As mentioned before, for admission to 15% AIQ seats, candidates must score NEET 2020 AIQ cutoff as set by NTA. Candidate must note that the AIQ cutoff of NEET 2020 will be the same as qualifying percentile.

NEET 2020 cutoff for 85% state quota seats

After 15% AIQ, the remaining 85% state quota seats will be allotted by respective state counselling committees based on NEET scores. The NEET 2020 cut off for 85% state quota seats will be released by designated authorities after admission.
