NDA 1 2020 exam date has been released. NDA 1 will be conducted on 06 September 2020. National Defence Academy is an entrance exam organized at the national level for the candidates who wish to be a part of the Indian Navy, Air Force, and Army. NDA is organized twice a year i.e. NDA(1) April session and NDA(2) November session by Union Public Service Commission (UPSC). The candidates are firstly supposed to clear the written test by scoring the minimum cut off marks. After which they can appear for 5- Days Service Selection Board (SSB) Interview round and hence get admission into National Defence Academy and Naval Academy. The candidates after qualifying the interview round of SSB have to go through the medical examination and document verification procedure. NDA(1) 2020 Admit Card

The vital information regarding NDA(1) 2020 Admit card is given below:

  • The NDA(1) 2020 Admit Card has been released on 10 August 2020.
  • The new exam date of NDA(1) will be announced soon.
  • Candidates will have to enter their login id credentials and other details to download their NDA admit card.
  • Candidates can download e-Admit Card from the UPSC website.
  • In case, there is any mistake in the details printed on the Admit Card, the candidates must immediately contact the official authority.
  • Also, they must immediately contact the Commission in case of any discrepancies while downloading the admit card.

NDA(1) 2020 - Number of Vacancies

NDA(1) 2020 Application Form

The detailed information regarding NDA(1) 2020 Application form is given below:
  • NDA(1) 2020 application form was available from 08 January 2020 and the last date to fill the form was 28 January 2020.
  • Application Form was available on the official website.
  • Also, candidates could withdraw their applications from 04 February 2020 to 11 February 2020 till 5:30 PM.
  • Before filling the application form candidates must go through the eligibility criteria.
  • Applicants must give their valid and active e-mail id while filling up the online application form as the Commission will be using the email id provided by applicants to contact the candidates.
  • Candidates must submit only one application. If they are submitting another/multiple applications then they need to make sure that the application having higher RID (Registration ID) is complete in all respects such as applicants' details, examination center, signature, photograph, photo identity card document, fee, etc. The fee paid against one RID shall not be adjusted against any other RID
  • Candidate should also have details of anyone photo ID like Aadhar Card/ Voter Card/ PAN Card/ Passport/ Driving License/ School Photo ID/ any other photo ID card issued by the state or central government.
  • The same photo ID should be uploaded with the online application form.
  • The photo ID will be used as future reference and the candidates need to carry the same while appearing for exam/SSB.
  • While filling the application form, the candidate should carefully choose the Centre for the Examination.

NDA(1) 2020 Application Fee

SC/ST candidates/Sons of JCOs (Junior Commissioned Officer) /NCOs (Non-Commissioned Officers) /Ors (Other Ranks of Army) and equivalent ranks in the Indian Navy/Indian Air Force


Mode of Payment: The payment of NDA(1) application fees could be done in both online and offline methods. Candidates must keep in mind that the application fee will not be refunded back.
  • Offline: Applicants who opt for 'Pay by Cash' mode, should print the system generated Pay-in-slip during Part-II registration and deposit the fee at the counter of SBI Branch on the next working day.
Note: Pay by cash mode option was deactivated at 11:59 PM of 27 January 2020 ( one day before the closing date)
  • Online: Candidates can pay the application fee either by using net banking facility of State Bank of India or by using Credit/Debit Card. 
Note: The banking payment mode was applicable till the closing date i.e. till 6:00 P.M. of 28 January 2020.

NDA(1) 2020 Eligibility Criteria

The candidates need to carefully go through the NDA(1) 2020 Eligibility given below and thereby check their eligibility before they apply for the exam:
  • Gender: Only male candidates can apply for the exam.
  • Nationality: Citizen of India, Bhutan, Nepal, Tibetan those came over to India before 01 January 1962 to permanently settle in India or person of Indian those have migrated from Burma, Pakistan,  Sri Lanka and East African Countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, and Ethiopia or Vietnam to permanently settle in India.
  • Candidates belonging to another state must have the certificate of eligibility which has been issued by the Government of India.
  • NDA exam Age Limit: Candidates born between 02 January 2001 to 01 January 2004 are eligible to apply.
  • Marital status: Only unmarried aspirants are eligible.
  • Educational Qualifications:
    • For Army Wing of National Defence Academy:
      • Candidate must have cleared their 10+ 2 level or equivalent examination.
      • Senior secondary school certificate should be from a recognized board/ council. 
    • For Air Force and Naval Wings of National Defence Academy and the 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme at the Indian Naval Academy:
      • Candidate must have cleared their 10+ 2 level or equivalent examination.
      • Senior secondary school certificate should be from a recognized board/ council. 
      • Candidate must have Physics and Mathematics in his 10+2 level.
  • Those aspirants who are in class 12th can also apply for the examination. But at the time counseling candidate have to submit their 10+2 certificate.
  • Physical Standards: Candidate should be physically fit. If not candidate will be rejected in the medical round.

NDA Answer Key 2020

Once the entrance exam of NDA 2020 will be over, UPSC will release the answer key of the examination online at the UPSC website. Candidate has to visit the website, upsc.gov.in to download the NDA 2020 answer key as per the set. One must ensure that they download the correct set of the answer key. The answer keys can be used to calculate the estimated score in the examination as they consist of all the correct answers to the set of questions provided in the exam.

NDA(1) 2020 Result

  • The result of NDA(1) will be released in the third week of June 2020.
  • The scorecard will be released in the form of a merit list.
  • The list will contain roll numbers of selected candidates.
  • Candidate can download the PDF of the result can check their result.
Two-Stage Selection Process
Candidates qualifying the written test will have to undergo the Psychological Aptitude Test and Intelligence Test introduced at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards by the Service Selection Board (SSB).
  • All the aspirants will be put to stage-one test on the first day of reporting at Selection Centres/Air Force Selection Boards/Naval Selection Boards.
  • Only those candidates who qualify stage one will be admitted to the second stage/remaining tests.
  • Those aspirants who qualify stage II will be required to submit the Original Certificates along with one photocopy each of: 
  1. Original Matriculation pass certificate or equivalent in support of date of birth
  2. Original 10+2 pass certificate or equivalent in support of educational qualification. 

NDA(1) 2020 Counselling 

Once the result will be declared, those who will qualify the exam will be called for the NDA(1) 2020 counselling process. The counselling will be organised by the UPSC. While this process, examinees will have to carry their documents in original for verification purpose.
