NDA(1) 2020 Counselling: Selection Procedure

NDA(1) 2020 Selection Procedure will be conducted by the UPSC. Selection procedure NDA and NA examination is a complex and multi-stage process. Candidates who have qualified the written exam will be called for the selection process. SSB will be done in two stages. NDA(1) 2020 Selection Procedure

NDA 2020 selection process is a rigorous and complex process. The UPSC notified about the examination for the year 2020 through an official notification published on the website. Applicants are waiting for the release of e-admit cards for the standard written examination to be held soon. Read on to find out how qualifying candidates are selected for admission into these academies. Candidates must read the given below section to know the whole procedure for NDA(1) 2020 Selection.

1. Written Examination

The written examination is the first stage of selection of the candidates. Applicants who will secure the minimum cut off marks in the written examination qualify for the subsequent selection stages. The UPSC notifies the results of the written examination through the website only.

  • The final shortlisted candidate's name who will qualify in the exam will be published through the official website of the Commission.

2. Interview 

Candidates who qualify in the written examination of the UPSC NDA and NA will be interviewed by the Services Selection Board. Qualifying candidates have to log in to the website of UPSC to know the details of their centre and the date of interview. 

  • Candidates will also receive the call letters indicating the date and venue of the interview.

3. First stage Selection

The first stage of selection of the SSB interview will consist of the Officer Intelligence Rating (OIR) test and Picture Perception & Description Test (PP&DT). It will be conducted on the first day of the SSB interview processes.

  • Candidates have to qualify in the first stage to participate in the second stage.

4. Second Stage of Selection

The second stage of SSB interview will consist of the interview, the group testing officer tasks, psychology tests and a final conference. The duration of the second stage of the SSB interview will of 04 days.

5. Final Selection

The candidates will be selected based on their performance in the written examination and both stages of SSB interview.

  • Candidates who have qualified in the written test and the SSB interview will be put together in a final merit list.
  • The admission into the different wings of the Indian Defence Forces such as the Army, Navy, Air Force of the NDA and the 10 + 2 cadet entry scheme of the Naval Academy will be based on the available number of vacancies. This year, the official notification has announced a total of 418 vacancies

The National Defence Academy (NDA) is the joint services academy of the Indian Armed Forces, where cadets of the three services, the Army, the Navy and the Air Force train together before they go on to respective service academy for further pre-commissioning training. The NDA is located in Khadakwasla, Pune, Maharashtra. It is the first tri-service academy in the world.
