Museology is a study of museums. It involves a study of ancient history through material evidence such as manuscripts, art pieces, tools, earthenware, pottery, structures, buildings, graves, etc. At the undergraduate level, those seeking admission in Museology can pursue Bachelor of Arts in Archaeology & Museology whereas at Postgraduate level one can pursue an MA in Museology, MA in Conservation or MA in History of Arts also can pursue PG Diploma in Museology. There is also an opportunity to further pursue in this field at PhD level where scholars are indulged in research.

Courses Minimum Eligibility Criteria Admission Basis
BA in Archaeology & Museology A candidate must have passed in 10+2 or equivalent examination from the Arts stream from a recognized board or university. History should be one of the compulsory subjects in 10+2. Based on the scores of class XII 
MA in Museology A graduate degree from a recognised university in any of the following subjects: Arts, Science, Social Science and Humanities with a minimum of 50% aggregate marks. Institute entrance exam or based on the score of Graduation.
MA in Conservation An applying candidate must hold a graduate degree in any of the following subjects: Physics, Chemistry, Geology, Biology, Biotechnology, Microbiology or Visual/Fine Arts or Architecture, Engineering and Technology with a minimum of 50% marks from a recognised board or university.

OR 

A graduate degree in any of the following subjects: History, Geography, Anthropology, Archaeology or related disciplines with minimum 50% marks and 10+2 / Senior Secondary / Intermediate level education in science stream.

MA in History of Arts One should have passed graduation with minimum 50% marks or equivalent grade at the graduate level.
PhD in Museology / Conservation/ History of Arts Any person holding a Master’s Degree with minimum 55% marks in Museology or Master Degree in History / Ancient Indian History and Archaeology or its equivalent from a recognized University / Institute are eligible to apply for this course.
PG Diploma in Museology Graduates from any of these fields Arts, Fine Arts and from Science background from a recognized university are eligible to apply.  Based on the score of Qualifying degree exam

The undergraduate courses is of 3 years, the postgraduate course is of 2 years,PG  Diploma is of 1 year & PhD is of minimum 3 years.
