JEE Advanced Seats Distribution 2021: Reservation, Quota, Female, Foreign

JEE Advanced Seats Distribution 2021 is based on the Reservation of Seats for different categories based on the rules of the Government of India. Seats for Defence Service Candidates,  reservation for Foreign Nationals and recently the Supernumerary Seats for Female Candidates are announced by Organizing Chairman JEE (Advanced)-2021 IIT Delhi. The JEE Advanced 2021 counselling and seat allotment registration will be open in online mode.

JEE Advanced Seats Distribution 2021 Reservation of Seats

A certain number of seats are reserved according to the rules of the Government of India. And the categories and the extent of reservation of seats are as follows:

Important Points for Reservation Categories According to Central List

  • OBC Reservation: The Other Backward Classes should be listed in the current updated central list of OBCs (www.ncbc.nic.in). OBCs present in the state list but not covered in the central list of OBCs (as per the list in www.ncbc.nic.in) are NOT eligible to claim the reservation.
  • ST / SC Reservation: The benefit of reservation will be given only to those castes and tribes that are mentioned in the respective central list of corresponding states published by the Government of India (websites: www.socialjustice.nic.in and www.tribal.nic.in).

Persons with Disability (PwD)

The category of a candidate will remain the same as filled in JEE Main Application Form 2021, which is recorded and made available by the JEE Apex Board [Examination conducting a body of JEE (Main) 2021. Furthermore,  no requests for change of category will be entertained.

Defence Service Candidates

Eligibility for Wards of Defence Candidates: The Defence Service (DS) candidates are wards of defence/paramilitary personnel killed or permanently disabled in war or peacetime operations. And to avail the seats under DSC quota, a DS candidate must be in the Common Rank List of JEE (Advanced) 2020.

Number of Seats: Two seats are reserved for DS candidates in each Institute.

Seats for Foreign Nationals in IITs

Candidates who are NOT citizens of India (by birth or naturalized), do not belong to PIO/OCI category, and whose parents are not citizens of India and do not come under PIO/OCI category at the time of registering for JEE (Advanced) 2020 are treated as foreign nationals. Seats allotted to foreign nationals are supernumerary with a cap of 10% of the total number of seats in every course. However, the seats allotted to PIO/OCI cardholders will be under the OPEN category, but not supernumerary. Foreign nationals are outside the ambit of reservation of seats under the OBC-NCL, SC, ST and PwD categories as specified herein.

Extra Seats For Female Candidates

The seats for female candidates are increased from 8% to 14% from 2021 session. These seats are supernumerary (extra) and without any disturbance in the total number of seats that were available to non-female candidates in the previous academic year. According to the Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India, These extra seats will be offered (a) to only qualified female candidates of JEE (Advanced) – 2021, and, (b) strictly based on the performance in JEE (Advanced) – 2021.

The reservation policy as per Government of India norms as existing at present will be applicable to these supernumerary seats as well. The detailed procedure for implementation of the above shall be set out in the Business Rules of the Joint Seat Allocation Authority, 2021

VSAT 2021 Application Form

VSAT 2021 Eligibility Criteria

Age Criteria:

  • Age Limit: should be born on or after 1 July 1997 to apply.

Qualification Criteria:

  • Minimum Marks: Candidates must have scored at least 60% marks in aggregate in the qualifying exam
  • Qualifying Exam: Passed 10+2 or its equivalent examination from a recognised board.
  • Appearing Candidates: Appearing candidates are also eligible to apply.

VSAT 2021 Exam Pattern

  • Exam mode: online mode only.
  • Marking Scheme: There is no negative marking.
  • Exam Duration: 180 Minutes(3 Hours).
  • Type of Question: The questions are multiple-choice types.
  • Questions: Total 120 questions.
  • Language: The question paper will come in the English language.
  • Subjects: The question paper will comprise of Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics/Biology and English/Aptitude.
  • Slots: The exam will probably be held on the 4th week of April 2020 in two slots (9:00 AM to 12:00 Noon & 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM).

JEE Advanced 2021 Notification will be released by the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Considering the prevailing pandemic situation due to COVID-19, JEE (Advanced) 2021 which was scheduled to be held on 03 July 2021 is postponed. The revised date will be announced at an appropriate time. And JAB is constituted of all 7 IITs Members. Whereas, JEE Advanced Notification will be released by JAB and updated by IIT Delhi. Furthermore, the organizing body for this year advanced exam is decided by the Board and IIT Delhi will be organizing JEE Advanced 2021. The Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced 2021 Notification will be released along with the information brochure contains all the important information related to JEE (Advanced). And the admissions to the UG Programmes at IITs for all Indian and Foreign nationals are made through the JEE Advanced.

Note: Both papers 1 and 2  are compulsory.

Finally, All the candidates, including foreign nationals, must fulfil each and every eligibility criterion to appear in JEE Advanced 2020.

Performance in JEE Main 2021

Candidates must be among the top 2,20,000 rank holders in Paper-1 of JEE Main 2021 (including all categories). Only those candidates who fulfil the above-mentioned condition can apply for JEE Advanced.

The percentages of various categories are: OBC-NCL 27%, SC 15%, ST 7.5% and OPEN 50.5%. Whereas within each of these 4 categories, 3% horizontal reserved for PWD candidates (including Dyslexic).

Age limit

Candidates born on or after October 1, 1995, can write the examination. However, the SC, ST and PwD candidates can avail 5 years relaxation in age criteria.

Total Number of Attempts: A candidate can appear for Maximum of two times in consecutive years. Hence, 2018 passed & 2020 appearing candidates are eligible for this year exam. Since the bar is set a very high and limited number of attempts, candidates are asked to give their best during preparations.

Previous admission to IITs

A candidate who is NOT in an IIT previously (irrespective of he/she remains in the program or not) OR a candidate who accepted the IIT seat by reporting at a reporting centre in the past. Moreover, the candidates whose admission at IITs was cancelled for some reasons are also NOT eligible to appear in 2021 JEE Advanced.

Furthermore, candidates who have been admitted to any of the IITs for a preparatory course for the first time in 2018 can appear in 2021 JEE Advanced. Also, the candidates who have paid fees for seat acceptance but not accepted the seat in any manner are eligible to appear in Advanced JEE 2020. Andhra Pradesh B.Tech Admission & Counselling 2021 will commence after the APEAMCET Result. Andhra Pradesh B.Tech Admission & Counselling

Steps to follow for the counselling process:

  1. Firstly, a student first checks the cut-off for the respective course only after the termination of the exam.
  2. Then check all the crucial documents as it is mandatory to carry during counselling.
  3. Also, counselling is all about documentation and verification and the student needs to pay a certain fee for the same.
  4. Further, a student will get a confirmed seat according to the merit he/she holds in the AP EAMCET or JEE Main 2021. And it also relies on the availability of the seats as well.
  5. Then, second-round counselling will happen for those students who instead of acquiring a minimum cut-off but, not get selected in the counselling process.
  6. These are the necessary documents that one needs to carry during counselling:
  • Aadhar card

  • Rank Card
  • Mark sheet of Class 10th
  • Marks sheet of Class 12th
  • Migration certificate

The students can enrol themselves in the counselling process after the result announcement.

JEE Main 2021 Postponed Due to COVID-19. NTA has postponed the JEE Main April/May sessions exam due to coronavirus. The exam was scheduled to be held from 27 to 30 April and 24 to 28 May 2021. The National Testing Agency will release the fresh schedule soon. The exam is likely to be held in July/August 2021. JEE Main 2021 exam dates rescheduling is a result of the government of India’s preventive step to stop the spreading of coronavirus infection.

Since JEE Mains may require travel by the candidates appearing for the exams to different towns and the dates may clash with the rescheduled CBSE and other board exams.
