States cancelled board exams 2021 and states yet to take a decision


Due to the COVID-19 pandemic rising cases and lockdown situation CBSE has cancelled class X and XII board exams for session 2021. The class 12 exam was cancelled on June 1 after a high-level meeting between PM Narendra Modi and education ministers and education secretaries of the different states of India. The Board will take steps to compile the results of class XII students as per well-defined objective criteria in a time-bound manner. Also, ICSE and CISE have cancelled class 10th and 12th exams for session 2021.

States who have decided to cancel the board exam 2021

The states which have cancelled board exams are mentioned below:

Gujarat State Board


Gujarat Education Minister Bhupendrasinh Chudasama announced that the Class 12 and 10th exam conducted by the Gujarat Secondary and Higher Secondary Education Board (GSHSEB) and GSEB respectively have been cancelled considering the centre’s decision to cancel the Class 12 CBSE board exams.

Madhya Pradesh State Board

MP Board of Secondary Education would not be holding the Class 12 MP board exams and has also cancelled the class 10th exam. The students of class 10th will be assessed based on their mid-term or pre-board exams, unit tests and internal assessment.

Rajasthan State Board

Rajasthan Education Minister Govind Singh Dotasra announced at a press conference that the RBSE Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2021 were cancelled. He added that the education department will soon come up with a formula to evaluate marks for the students.

Haryana State Board

Haryana Education Minister Kanwar Pal announced that the Haryana School Education Board had decided to cancel the Haryana Class 10th and 12 board exams 2021 following the central government. Haryana board matriculation results is likely to be announced by 15 June, says minister Kanwar Pal. He also notified that those students who will be not satisfied with their results will be allowed to appear for the examinations when the situation is conducive whereas for Class 12 result, Haryana government will conduct an internal assessment.

Goa State Board

The Goa Board has cancelled the Class 10th and 12 board exams 2021. A circular by Goa board stated that students who were not satisfied with the marks provided by the board could appear for the exam later on.

Karnataka State Board

Karnataka Primary and Secondary Education Minister S Sureshkumar announced that the II PU exams have been cancelled in the state, the students will be promoted to the next standard without holding the examinations.

Maharashtra State Board

State Relief and Rehabilitation Minister Vijay Wadettiwar announced the cancellation of the state board exams 2021 for Classes 10 and 12.

Odisha State Board

The Odisha government decided to cancel the  Class 10 and 12 board exams 2021 conducted by the Board of Secondary Education and Council of Higher Secondary Education (CHSE) and evaluate students on well-defined objective criteria.

Telangana State Board

Tamil Nadu State Board

The Tamil Nadu government has cancelled the class 10th and 12th exam 2021. TN +2 Public Exams 2021 has been cancelled. CM M.K. Stalin announced not to conduct Class 12 State Board Examinations in the state this year.

Uttarakhand State Board

State Education Minister Arvind Pandey announced the cancellation of the Uttarakhand intermediate Class 12 board exam 2021 and also class 10th exam has been cancelled. UBSE 10th results will be announced on the basis of Class 9 and 10 marks whereas the details on the alternative assessment scheme to prepare the UK Board 12th Result 2021 will be announced soon.

Uttar Pradesh State Board

The UP Board Class 10 and Class 12 board exams 2021 were cancelled by the Uttar Pradesh Secondary Education Council on Thursday as per the announcement by UP CM Yogi Adityanath on Twitter.

West Bengal State Board

The West Bengal government has decided to cancel the state board class 10th and 12th exams for session 2021.

Jharkhand State Board

Owing to the current covid situation in the state, the JAC has decided to cancel the class 10th & 12th examinations for session 2020-21. “In the view of COVID19 situation, Jharkhand Academic Council has decided to cancel the class 10th & 12th examinations for this session,” State’s Directorate of Information and Public Relations said.

Telangana State Board

The Telangana government is yet to decide on the cancellation of the intermediate second-year board exams 2021.

Andhra Pradesh State Board

The Andhra Pradesh government has not taken a decision on cancelling the state board exams yet. Soon the decision will be taken

Assam State Board

Assam CM Himanta Biswa Sarma said that the final decision on the SEBA Class 10 board exams and the AHSEC Class 12 board exams would be taken after consulting stakeholders.
